Tennessee vs. Oklahoma State: Game Thread

we have no NBA players they had 1. There NBA player made his shot at the end, our talent missed his shot. Look guy, this team needs to take some of the heat. They don't listen to coaching. We are not a huge school for recruiting so he is doing the best he can. You want to get rid of him, fine. Tell me one coach that would come here and do better.

You can't get rid of a coach gone to the tourney last 4 years. Even still I can't take the whole talent argument because these are his guys, 4th year coach... Ford is a 1st year coach with inherited guys.

And to think 13 people picked the Vols to win it all in the Volnation contest.

Maybe the stars are realigning and Tennessee is supposed to be a good football school and suck at basketball?

Tennessee Men's Basketball Program = Fail

Man, how quickly we become a spoiled group of fans. Making the tourney every year now since Bruce arrived, had a down year and still made the tourney, we lose and the mens program is considered a failure? From where this program has been for the majority of my life (35 years old), this is the good stuff with better still on the horizon and getting closer.

Was at work and could not see last shot, was the 3 the best available shot to take or was it forced? I can't believe that was the shot when a 2 ties the game, sends it to overtime, and OSU riddled with foul trouble.

Tyler got tangled up on the edge in a crowd of a UT player and 2 OSU guys and had to force the 3 up. He knows he cant make those, so it was desperation.

Funny thing was that the OSU guy got a hand on it, otherwise i dont think it would have even been that close

maybe if Tenn had better defense OKS wouldnt have scored so much

Their last and 1 was one of the most pathetically defended plays I've ever seen. You've got a 1 point lead, and you let the guy break your ankles while no one is underneath to help, and then you foul him to boot. AWESOME defense guys.

The worst stretch was when we were up 2 with the ball, at 67-65, and it took all of 30 seconds to turn the ball over twice and fall behind by 5.

And, we haven't won the SECT since 1979. Cat fans keep coming up with new ways to deal with an NIT bid.

honestly, the conference tourney title is just a way to get another SEC team in the NCCAT. All that trophy should say is "Ticket to NCCAT" or "Thanks"

Good luck getting your answer.

So, you don't think Hopson, Negedu, Woolridge, Tatum, and company will improve? If Smith stays, why not?

Woolridge is awful, permanently. Yeah not saying they could improve but the whole '1 year older 1 year better' argument is never set in stone. BP is yet to find a point guard of CJ Watson's caliber, whom he inherited.

Right, cause clearly we didnt even make the tourney, win our division, or anything else.

In basketball, FAIL=sitting at home hoping the CBI calls your team to come play.

Oh please, the SEC is absolutley horrible in basketball right now. It's not a crowning achievment to win the SEC east regular season title (unless you're Phil Fulmer and you believe in such a title) and then get a 9 seed (granted it seemed too low at the time) in the tourney for doing such.

What's better...flameout in the 1st round or still playing ball in the Not Interesting Tourney? Not sure. They both aren't fun places to be.
You know what Brian, My apologies, I miss read your comments, guess I’m letting work get to me.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

The TALENt to compete??? Who is coaching this TALENT? Who is recruiting this TALENT? Hmmm I'll wait for your answer.

Right? Because Tennessee is a haven for McD's AA and high caliber players. He is supposed to just walk into any school and pick the guys he wants. 4 years, 4 NCAA's in a mediocre program, but run him off.

It's like arguing with wheaton...know you're roll and don't act like something you are not.

BP didnt miss the shot, he did not make the poor decisions with the ball. He did not turn the ball over twice with the lead late in the game, the players did. He called plays out of time outs that scored. He called to's to change the offense when it went stagnant against the zone. Get over yourself people. We dont have the TALENT to compete.

Four years of Pearl getting his own guys in and we don't have the talent to compete with a basketball powerhouse like Oklahoma State?

hey...defense is their specialty....oh wait...that's football...sorry...my mistake....

Donovan took ten years to win a title at Florida and they went up-and-down. Down right now. It takes a while to build a great program. Bruce is a good coach with a young team.

Pearl's only fault is that they lack discipline at times. He needs to improve in this area.

Actually, the game went much better than I expected. Yesterday, I was fearing a SW Mo State repeat.

That said, this team had no at the wire clutch play all year (except for the Arky game). So to expect to pull this one out in the last minute wasn't realistic. They were tough to watch all year because they never really gave us reason to have hope.

That was just another example of how brain dead this team has been this year.

Throw in all of the offensive rebounds given up with 50 seconds to go and the easy drive given up with 10 seconds to go, and this was classic 2008-09 UT bball.

It's fans wanting to be able to brag to fans of other teams like UF or UK. That's what it is.

The fanbase also sadly has seemingly had a shorter fuse on sports success after the fulmer firing - even though I agree that the coaching move was correct

all around garbage game. They can't keep a lead/play defense/ or make easy baskets. The same story all season. If they don't come out hitting early, they lose. If the game is close at the end of the game, they lose.
