Officiating does not affect the outcome of a game as much as people like to believe. For about half the game against Vandy it did. But it evened out down the stretch. Tonight had nothing to do with officiating. We shot 36% from the field, 23% from 3 and 60% .....60% from the free throw line. That's terrible. And not gonna win you many, if any games against decent teams.

You’re right. A dozen charity free throws had no effect on a one possession game. Makes total sense.

Whatever is hampering JJJ is really killing his offense, hasn't scored double digits in a game since before Christmas. 3.6 ppg over the last 8 and he's playing over 26 mpg.

It’s very apparent that this team cannot win if DK isn’t playing all world for the whole game. James is giving us nothing. Gainey is inconsistent as ever. Aidoo had an off game but he has been playing great. We aren’t getting hardly anything from the bench. ZZ is a great defender but his offense is hit and miss.

SC was physical and really made it tough for us in the paint. This underscores a problem Barnes has had forever. He can recruit great and has done well in the portal. But he cannot for some reason find a game changing big man. DJ has got to be frustrated. This is an unacceptable loss. We were 14 pt home favorites against an unranked team and they came in and shoved the game in our face.

Yea it definitely changed the game especially being so early in the half. Hate when refs just completely change how they call games from one half to the next.

No doubt. We've shown how dangerous we can be if others are contributing. But we showed tonight we can't afford to completely rely on him. Especially his free throw shooting.

Second on the team with 7 rebounds and tied with ZZZ on assist lead. Plays good defense. These are the reasons he stays in the game when he isn’t scoring. Who would you replace him with for more points since Mashack has quit shooting any and Gainey didn’t score tonight either? Tough to draw up the offense as the coach when we get point blank attempts and miss.

This team is much more equipped to make a deep run. We have quality wins against Illinois and Wisconsin. Just an off night and missed layups didn't help. We will be fine

Hard for others to stay engaged when the entire offense consists of one guy dominating the ball as much as Knecht does. That’s just a fact.

Hard to stay at engaged at literally THE only thing these guys are great at? The ONLY thing they have focused on for their entire lives....the 1 thing that got them a free ride to UT....and now paid $$$....and THE only path they will ever have to become millionaires via the NBA or Europe, asia etc??

I think thats totally insane. The EXACT opposite should be true. Playing with someone who showed up on campus and is instantly better than anyone in the SEC should help players ELEVATE their games. Especially when the other teams focus on defense is ALWAYS gonna be DK....guys are getting wide open looks.

There is absolutely ZERO excuse for this team shooting 30% from the floor and 17% from 3 before DK nailed those last 2 from downtown. Its a lack of focus, a lack of effort, and we must have the worst shooting coach in the country. How does Vescovi go from a career 40% 3 point shooter to a bum? How does Gainey lead the entire country in 3 point % 2 years ago but now he sucks ass? ZZ goes in slumps too like tonight 0 for 6 from 3....nobody on this team but DK can shoot well at all. Period.

Fortunately this is just 1 game....we better be ready for kentucky though or we wont win the SEC this year. Even with the best player in the country added to last years team....how the F does that happen?? Lmao

Yeah it was absolutely Rick’s fault that they missed 10 layups, shot 20% from 3, missed a wad of FT’s and gave up repeated offensive rebounds and wide open 3’s. Even Knecht struggled up until the end. I swear I don’t know if some of our fans have ever held a basketball much less played it.

Get a grip people. It’s a long season. The team had a bad game. Happens sometimes. On to the next one.

The team has to make a FG and give the fans something to cheer about. We had a stretch of going 1-13 from the field in the 2nd half and were missing free throws too. The fans were ready to explode as they usually do. Its mot like the opposing team scored 90 points either. But the team didn't give anything to build momentum off of on offense.

We missed way too many easy inside shots. Layups. At some point someone else is gonna have to step up offensively for this team. I mean how many games would we have actually win this year without DK?

Yes. We know Tennessee missed shots they should have made. More concerning were the 5 phantom fouls in the second half (3 in 30 seconds). Each set of phantom fouls came as soon as Tennessee went on a run.

It was a bizarre sequence that definitely killed our momentum. Combined with the Plowman letter, it tempts me to put on the tinfoil hat.

Tennessee gonna be fine tho. It don’t matter what happens in Rupp. They will be fine. I’d say practice probably won’t be much fun at all. Just regroup and get it done. I don’t expect to see that many missed layups again.

Knect didn’t play well until the game was pretty much out of reach. He scored 13 in last 2 mins which was quite the show but missed 2 huge FTs when we had to have it. 10 Missed layups and 8 missed FTs were the issue tonight.
