Tennessee Whiskey or Kentucky Bourbon?

Seeing as how Jack Daniels is the best selling Whiskey in the world, I think more people would choose it over Bourbon. I like JD, JW (Scotch Whisky) and Irish Whiskey. Since moving to KY and doing the "Bourbon Trail" the only Bourbon I think competes with JD is Makers. That is a fine Whisky but JD is the best selling Whiskey in the world for a reason.

agreed this is why the olive garden is generally considered the greatest italian restuarant in the world.

Bumping this as a new whiskey drinker.
I haven't tried many options for sipping yet, but I did just finish a bottle of Gentleman Jack last night. I drink it on the rocks just because I like it cold, but I don't like when the ice melts and makes it watery.
I can say that I did like Gentleman Jack a lot, but I wondered if anyone might have other suggestions. Willing to try any bourbon or scotch suggestions, I just want something good for sipping, and not too terribly expensive.

As much as I like Mr. Daniels, Maker's Mark is better, IMO.

I stand by the statement I made over 7 years ago.

I have also come to appreciate Jameson's Irish Whiskey too which is similarly priced around here.

If you're a noob, try Four Roses Single Barrel. A very smooth, fragrant sipping bourbon.

George Dickel Barrel select is the best tasting American Whisky to me without a doubt. I will admit to having a soft spot for Knob Creek Bourbon however.

Little update from this bourbon boob.
I've tried Maker's Mark and Four Roses but I still enjoy Gentleman Jack a bit more. I think it's just a touch smoother. All are great and I love how nicer whiskey doesn't have a harsh bite like the cheap stuff I shot in college.

They both have their place for me honestly. I admit though, I've had a longer history with Jack Daniels than I've had with Makers so there is just something about a good Jack and Coke that just hits the money spot.

I'm sorry, but Jameson is some nastiness!
