I keep seeing these comments that Auburn is putting together a better class than Tennessee.

Where are you guys getting this crap from??!?!?!?

Tennessee verbals since Lane has joined---

Eric Gordon (schools that offered---Oklahoma, Alabama)
Arthur Jeffery (3* DT that was injured so he missed many offers)
Mike Edwards (named #1 CB in the state by Ohio Varsity)
Nyshier Oliver (verbal to Notre Dame)
James Green (schools that offered---Auburn, Ohio State, Ole Miss)

here's some of Chizik's prized signings---

Daren Bates (offered by Arkansas State, Central Arkansas)
Nosa Eguae (offeredy by Iowa State, Kansas)
Anthony Gulley (offered by Troy)
Izauea Lanier (offered by Troy)
Clint Moseley (offered by UAB, South Alabama, Marshall)
John Sullen (offered by Duke, Memphis, UAB)
Demond Washington (offered by Louisville, Memphis, Northern Illinois, Ohio)

David Oku and Aubrey Phillips--- If Oku wants to run reverses and trick plays at Auburn for Gus, then let him. Posters on VQ have been saying Aubrey isn't mentally tough for a while and if he goes elsewhere, we'll move on.

Is this really what it comes down to? They sign all these guys away from basketball schools and non-BCS conferences and people want to crown them recruiting kings? Are you f'ing kidding me?!?!?!?

We just got two of their commitments to campus this weekend in Jonathan Evans and Terrance Coleman and if neither switches commitments, then so what?

Rivals lists them as having 25 commitments. Some of these guys won't qualify and some will switch on signing day. They'll sign a couple more guys, but that's it. We're going to sign a few more guys and put even more distance between us and them. How can anyone compare our lists and think we're getting less-talented players?

Tennessee has 18 to Auburn's 25 commitments and we're still ranked ahead of them and we're not done yet. Who is putting this into people's heads?

We have a better class this year and I see no reason why we won't next year. The Trooper Taylor talk is getting old---he's gone and he isn't single-handedly going to change Auburn's fortunes.

Both schools will get better, but all this panicking over how awesome their class is because they're stealing all these small school kids is totally unfounded and absurd.

Agree, Auburn is picking up leftovers and is in worse shape than we are. They felt the pressure to get a coach hired quick and lost more commits than us.

I never said they were... what I've said is that they appear to be taking recruits away from UT.

The only one I care about is Phillips. If UT can hang on to its solid guys and add two more OL's then I'll be tickled... losing Phillips is a huge step in the wrong direction.

Even if they do pull off a better class than we do, we have much better coaching so we will field a better team regardless. Smokey trumps war crow....err i mean war eagle.

Doesn't have to be Phillips necessarily though I've grown to like him from what I've read. UT needs 4 OL's in this class. I really like Schofield as well... seems Clawson and his guys had a better eye for talent than many gave them credit for.

I wouldn't want Fulmer kept to see... but it would have been interesting to see what Clawson could have done with the time and patience many here are willing to give Kiffin.

Maybe interesting is the most positive word one could put there.

THis is what I'm talking about. The atmosphere around here today is like a funeral. Some people seem like they're ready to have another coaching search. Let's let these guys do their job. There's only so much you can do in a month. How bout we sign the ones that are smart enough to come, win some games, and then watch em start flocking this way? GO BIG ORANGE!

There are people here who have already lowered the bar for CLK and are willing to wait 4 or 5 years before UT even starts to compete for championships again.

Clawson got one year then got caught up in Fulmer's mess. He's been successful everywhere else he's been. I saw several times where he called a great play only to have the players flub it up. In time, I think we would have liked the product.

Too bad we'll never know.

Actually, I'm pretty excited that we'll never know. I like our new direction.

On a side note, thank you for not mentioning your OT argument in that last post. Only so much of it that a man can take in one night.

w/boyd/oku/giles/stokes and a few more..8/9 wins this year w a streak of 10+ to follow for several years.

we were putting together a top 5 class and moving in a positive direction.

but no biggie,we will be back there again in 3 to 5 more years.may be worth it to some, but not me!

so far wonderboy has been a train wreck w/ this class.
you just dont tell top recruits they dont fit your system and expect other recruits to not think maybe you dont fit their system as well.just plumb dumb!

makes me wonder if he dictates like this running our offense,we may be in trouble.its already obivious he does not know how to use certain talent that dosnt fit his visions ?

i really see our only hope in that monte can show him the right way to do this quickley or this experiment will be over in 3 years.

the sec thrives on players like boyd/giles/thigpen ect.,he will see next year the error of his ways.of course by then we will be another year behind and playing more catch up.

if he had of took boyd.stokes/brown/oku and more would have been a lock.tell me im wrong and your just in denial.

i could just about chew a nail in too right now :realmad:

It's amazing to me how some people just show up out of nowhere to start throwing out negative crap in every thread including one posivol.

If you're saying that keeping Boyd would've meant that UT would also sign Stokes, Brown, Oku and more.....then you're just plumb dumb. Boyd isn't making decisions for those guys. You need a hug posi? At least wait until Wednesday night before hanging yourself.

You know you are talking to the biggest Fulmer Troll on this board right??

Currently Rivals has UT at #16 and Auburn at #18. If UT cannot land some of the big names still showing interest and Auburn picks up Oku and another 4 star or better then I think it's very feesible that Auburn may end up with a higher ranked class than this year.

It's gloomy because in the last few days, we have lost Zaccheus Mason, Maybe Aubrey Phillips, Jarrett Brown, DT Shackleford, and are receiving negative reports on Oku, Hardy, Stokes. Patterson dissed us with a no show on a schedules visit etc. etc. etc.

The good news is I think UT could still very easily land one or two of the above mentioned in addition to a few of the following: Eddie Lacy, Teague, Ashlon Jeffery, MB, Orson Charles, Marcus Hall, Chris Freeman, Peter White, Sam Montgomery, Tana Patrick, Greg King, Jonathan Evans, Myles, Hornsby (I hope not), and Pearlie Graves....and maybe the biggest longshot of them all Bryce Brown.

There are still some optimists throwing out names like Janzen Jackson but I think that's just optimists having wet dreams.

Can't expect Kiffin and crew to come in with less than a tenth of the time many schools spent on many of these guys and pull them in.

What i do expect is: More disciplined offense that doesn't have as many stupid penalties, QB play that doesn't resemble mid level high school capabilities, better player development (we have 4 and 5 star recruits from a top 5 recruiting class a few years ago that have barely seen the field under the former regime), and a top 10 recruiting class in 2010.

Heck, I'm excited! I think there's a great chance that all of those expectations can be met. If we have a top 15 class in 09, then that's just gravy.

Go Big Orange!

Why is Chris Freeman on your list? He didn't make his visit did he? I haven't heard much else on him.

These guys obviously do not have their heads on straight. I wouldn't worry about any of them at this point.

To those who are just putting up a front, i understand. To those who think that Knoxville is not the land of milk and honey, you aren't gonna find very many places like the University of Tennessee(so good luck trying to convince yourself you have).

I agree, but I still would prefer to see a few of those guys in Orange next year (and not Syracuse orange).

I left Dequinta (DD) Jones off of my list by mistake. I think we have a shot there too.
