Tennessee will have a better class than Auburn.

w/boyd/oku/giles/stokes and a few more..8/9 wins this year w a streak of 10+ to follow for several years.

we were putting together a top 5 class and moving in a positive direction.

but no biggie,we will be back there again in 3 to 5 more years.may be worth it to some, but not me!

so far wonderboy has been a train wreck w/ this class.
you just dont tell top recruits they dont fit your system and expect other recruits to not think maybe you dont fit their system as well.just plumb dumb!

makes me wonder if he dictates like this running our offense,we may be in trouble.its already obivious he does not know how to use certain talent that dosnt fit his visions ?

i really see our only hope in that monte can show him the right way to do this quickley or this experiment will be over in 3 years.

the sec thrives on players like boyd/giles/thigpen ect.,he will see next year the error of his ways.of course by then we will be another year behind and playing more catch up.

if he had of took boyd.stokes/brown/oku and more would have been a lock.tell me im wrong and your just in denial.

i could just about chew a nail in too right now :realmad:

Please don't chew a nail in!

I know this may be off topic but I have a source that came across this letter the other day and it opened my eyes concerning Posivol.

Dear Phil,
I am your greatest fan, period!!! No one loves you as I do. I have your photo everywhere in my home. I worship your body and mind. I am appalled at how you have been treated at Tennessee. You dont deserve those ungrateful people. I remember back when I first saw you, all dressed in that tight orange Tennessee polo, I just couldn't help myself. I knew then it was love at first sight. You brought out what I had been feeling for so long, but was afraid of being honest with myself and my feelings. You are everything to me, Phil. I just get so mad when I see you and Vicki, so happy together, but then I realize that one day you will be mine, one way or another. Did you get the birthday card I sent you? I left a little of my DNA on it for you, If you know what I mean!! I will continue to undermine the new coaching staff on Volnation for you Phil, my love. That is my promise to you. Just know that there is someone out there that loves you. I love you!!!

PosiVol

P.S. Can you have Vicki clean the windows? Its getting harder to see you through them at night.

On a side note, thank you for not mentioning your OT argument in that last post. Only so much of it that a man can take in one night.

As long as people keep ignoring this critical issue... I'll keep bringing it up.

Hopefully we'll all be surprised and I'll be relieved on NSD. Maybe somehow they'll hang on to Phillips and add Hall.

Doesn't have to be Phillips necessarily though I've grown to like him from what I've read. UT needs 4 OL's in this class. I really like Schofield as well... seems Clawson and his guys had a better eye for talent than many gave them credit for.

I wouldn't want Fulmer kept to see... but it would have been interesting to see what Clawson could have done with the time and patience many here are willing to give Kiffin.

Your kidding me right? CLAWSON for another year? That was without a doubt the most Horrific Gosh Darn Awful Golly Dang Embarrasing to Say I'm a Vol Offense in the entire history of Tennessee Football. If CLK rolls out another 100+ ranked offense next year, I am for giving him the same treatment - the old heave ho! And I think CLK would not be arguing with the decision either. Fortunately, I don't think that will be the case.

Great Post Jack.

As for Clawson and Fulmer, they may have had an eye for talent but somewhere in the transition the coaching stopped.

If Clawson and company could have eaked out a measely 7 wins they'd still be here, 8 wins and Fulmer's contract would have rolled over. The fact that they couldn't with the talent they had sealed the deal. So we go through this tough transition period which means a scramble for a decent class this year, load up on youth next year and be a legit contender for chamionships starting in 2011. I was all for giving Fulmer a chance, but after 5 wins and in the manner the season played out, I was finally done.

There are people here who have already lowered the bar for CLK and are willing to wait 4 or 5 years before UT even starts to compete for championships again.

Clawson got one year then got caught up in Fulmer's mess. He's been successful everywhere else he's been. I saw several times where he called a great play only to have the players flub it up. In time, I think we would have liked the product.

Too bad we'll never know.

Isn't that effectively what your proposing with Fulmer by speculating "what if Clawson and Fulmer had another year"? There's no gauruntee that Fulmer would not have thrown Clawson under the bus after last year's debacle and last year was a debacle by any definition of the term...a disgrace, a disaster.

Unless we're jumping into the no win coaching carausel, this staff will have at least 4 years unless they totally crap the bed:

- This year (2009) improvement on the field and piece together a decent class is all that can reasonably be expected
- The 2010 the recruiting class expectation should be top 5 and additional improvement on the field but with limitations given youth at DT and OL (due to the bare cupboard that the Fulmer staff left)
- 2011 should see us as legitimate championship competitor

If we're not in position to compete for SECC or BCS in the 2011 and this staff of all star recruitors doesn't position us quickly into the top shelf of classes, then let the change discussions begin.

I think three years to turn this around and get us back to top level is reasonable. Three years was not a reasonable expectation for Fulmer as he was on and should have been on a year to year evaluation. We collapsed last year so probation time was up.

Why not?

All the excuses being pre-positioned for CLK apply: He didn't have enough time to get his own players, he didn't have his own players, those before him did a poor job of recruiting, we should expect some down years to rebuild, etc, etc, etc.

Clawson and his guys were building a good class with very little help from Chavis and the old boys. Apparently the WR coach was even honest enough with Briscoe to tell him that it would take a year or two before the system really began to click due to its complexity.

Volindawgland, if they don't sign a couple more OL's in this class then we will not see an improvement on the field in '10 unless they hit several JUCO homeruns. Including the two solids in this class, UT will have 8 OL's... EIGHT on the roster. Two will be Pope and Anderson. One will be a guy who is coming off double shoulder surgery.

I never said Fulmer deserved another year. In fact, I indicated it wouldn't be worth it to keep Fulmer just to give Clawson another year. Fulmer handed Clawson a team without the players he needed... I just feel bad for the guy.

I keep seeing these comments that Auburn is putting together a better class than Tennessee.

Where are you guys getting this crap from??!?!?!?

Tennessee verbals since Lane has joined---

Eric Gordon (schools that offered---Oklahoma, Alabama)
Arthur Jeffery (3* DT that was injured so he missed many offers)
Mike Edwards (named #1 CB in the state by Ohio Varsity)
Nyshier Oliver (verbal to Notre Dame)
James Green (schools that offered---Auburn, Ohio State, Ole Miss)

here's some of Chizik's prized signings---

Daren Bates (offered by Arkansas State, Central Arkansas)
Nosa Eguae (offeredy by Iowa State, Kansas)
Anthony Gulley (offered by Troy)
Izauea Lanier (offered by Troy)
Clint Moseley (offered by UAB, South Alabama, Marshall)
John Sullen (offered by Duke, Memphis, UAB)
Demond Washington (offered by Louisville, Memphis, Northern Illinois, Ohio)

David Oku and Aubrey Phillips--- If Oku wants to run reverses and trick plays at Auburn for Gus, then let him. Posters on VQ have been saying Aubrey isn't mentally tough for a while and if he goes elsewhere, we'll move on.

Is this really what it comes down to? They sign all these guys away from basketball schools and non-BCS conferences and people want to crown them recruiting kings? Are you f'ing kidding me?!?!?!?

We just got two of their commitments to campus this weekend in Jonathan Evans and Terrance Coleman and if neither switches commitments, then so what?

Rivals lists them as having 25 commitments. Some of these guys won't qualify and some will switch on signing day. They'll sign a couple more guys, but that's it. We're going to sign a few more guys and put even more distance between us and them. How can anyone compare our lists and think we're getting less-talented players?

Tennessee has 18 to Auburn's 25 commitments and we're still ranked ahead of them and we're not done yet. Who is putting this into people's heads?

We have a better class this year and I see no reason why we won't next year. The Trooper Taylor talk is getting old---he's gone and he isn't single-handedly going to change Auburn's fortunes.

Both schools will get better, but all this panicking over how awesome their class is because they're stealing all these small school kids is totally unfounded and absurd.
Good post man! Go Vols!

Not hiring Trooper was a big mistake in my mind. I don't even think Lane gave him an interview. Plus, I don't think he would've been a guy from the previous regime because he left under very tenuous circumstances.

Lane spoke to him on the phone and it progressed no further than that.

Why bring in a guy that the old staff wasn't fond of? Would it be good to have him talk about how much Fulmer couldn't get it done? You don't want polarizing comments in the practice facilities and in the locker rooom. Lane doesn't want to dwell on the Fulmer regime, he wants a clean break.

We have great position coaches, we have NFL experience and Trooper Taylor is not at Tennessee, why can't people let him go? He's not a part of the staff...it's over...he's at Auburn..Trooper's not walking through that door...

rivals is now calling for AU to have a top 15 class

they have 25 verbals already, are they really going to put 10 guys in JUCO and 5 on the grey shirt list?

only 25 can make the fall roster.

the highest-rated players are going to JUCO, they aren't going to put their 2*'s at JUCO.

Hey it is cool. Just ignore his posts though.

He thinks all of our hires were garbage and thinks that Tee Martin is a better catch than Lance Thompson.

you wouldnt lie would you.

would have rather had trooper or tee vs david (my brother in law) reaves.

but im sure your one of those fellows that likes keeping it in the family (if you know what i mean) :)

If you're saying that keeping Boyd would've meant that UT would also sign Stokes, Brown, Oku and more.....then you're just plumb dumb. Boyd isn't making decisions for those guys. You need a hug posi? At least wait until Wednesday night before hanging yourself.

boyd was recruiting for us hard w/ the available recvrs.if you think these guys dont communicate w/ each other please do get a clue.

kind of like a shunned girlfriend, think theyll promote you to their friends or dog you out.

you know the answer, but go ahead and pour yourself another big glass of kiffinaide.

Trooper Taylor is better than every position coach and every recruiting coordinator in America---shut your mouths and just accept that Auburn is going to win at minimum 9 NC's in the next 10 years---BOOK IT!

Raise the white flag and bow down to the mighty Auburn.

its a wash, same posters were all for the clawson hire and going outside the family for the hire.now they act as if they were against it.begged for it,got it,then threw the whole staff under the bus.

i was all for hiring the michigan retreads w/ the qb coach and qb transfer.but the mass fan population wouldnt hear of it.we want the w.coast o,until they got it.

problem w/ that is you have to recruit and build it,and isnt that what we are doing now w/ another version ?

clawson would have been fine in a couple years just as kiffin probably will as well (if he can really coach).

bottom line is we have wasted 2 years minimum and if the kiffin experiment goes bad a decade would not be out of the question.just ask alabama!
