Having said all that, anything can happen, Georgia might get messed up by injuries again, FL might not be able to fix their Offense, South Carolina might have issues as well. Missouri I believe replaces a lot of their defense as well. So it's not out of the realm of possibility for TN to win the East.
There is no reason to believe that TN can't win the East next year. If you look at what we're losing, the oline and dline, but some would argue that the oline was overrated and the dline wasn't really anything to write home about.
We return our QBs, not saying much, but better then South Carolina and Georgia who have to replace QBs. We return most of our defense, and the skill position players. If you think about it we're in pretty good shape especially with the influx of talent coming in. Butch's previous coaching stops have shown that usually year 2 is the year that a big jump is made. At Cincy they went 4-8 his first year, second year they went 10-2. At CMU they went 8-6, 8-5 and then the third year 11-2. So if the trend continues I wouldn't be surprised to see TN make a big jump in wins, but I also wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see that big jump until year 3.

You seem to forget who is coaching those QB's for South Carolina. And UGA won't be in as bad of shape as you hope.
As far as Butch making strides in year 2, I hope so. But this isn't CMU or Cincy.
