So the fictitious suspensions would actually impact them, which they don't do should the players enter the draft.

But that's assuming anybody believes it. It'd be like my boss saying, "I'll give you an extra week of vacation, provided you work the week after your last scheduled day."
He'd look like an idiot for saying that.

Just like Tressell did.

Why did anyone, beyond those who bought it, need to believe it? Joe Fan doesn't make a whit.

Exactly. So why say it and make yourself look like a lying idiot? What is the benefit of doing it?

You don't have to answer BPV. But thank you for your responses. I just hate OSU.

I think that Tressel was really just trying to pressure his best players into staying an extra year. He'll be missing these guys against Akron, Toledo, Miami (FL), Colorado, and Michigan St... a couple of toughish games, but the roughest games are later.

His plan backfires if any of those players actually leaves for the NFL... Only a little though... I have a feeling that he'll play the victimized ethical coach.

I would venture to guess that Tressel knew this would happen, he just wanted him so he could win against Arkansas and put a small hault to all the SEC talk.

I personally think that Ohio State should now be stripped of the win.

Then Ohio State should pay for them instead.

Ohio State should forfeit the money won in the Sugar Bowl, plus the win. Then they should have to forfeit the first five games that Pryor was to play in.

Teach them bastages next time to bench the players the first time.

Who's gonna make that stick?

Not only that. Technically, Mr. Sweater Vest lied to the NCAA just like Bruce did since he told them that the players would be back next year. So what kind of suspension will he receive?

Will OSU claim that the players weren't educated about having to come back next year?
