Teresa to sell DEI, Stewart and Newman to Haas: The Dominos are Starting to Fall

ESPN - Sources: Stewart granted release from leave Gibbs, will move to Haas - Racing

done.

Stewart Haas will continue to receive chassis and engines from Hendrick Motorsports. Haas/CNC's current drivers, Scott Riggs and Johnny Sauter, are ranked 36th and 44th, respectively, in the owner point standings.

broyles, i think it's a safe bet we'll see Tony and the driver of his choice locked into the top 35 at this point next year, but i think, like you, they won't be running around destroying the field.

sorry, i meant will they run better next year as the Haas team than the Haas team has this year.

overall, the two will be more successful that the current stable of drivers, but they won't set the NASCAR world on fire.

I cannot see how they wouldn't be better than the current drivers at Haas either.

Just having HMS engines and chassis doesn't bring automatic competitiveness, they already have them, and are not front runners. Someone has to put the pieces together properly, and set the car up best for the track/driver. And do you think HMS sells their best engines or saves them for their own cars?

i'm pretty sure i heard that Zippy will be going with him, which obviously won't turn the team around, but he'll be helpful to have around for sure.

Truex is 18th in points now, 238 back. As for Paul Menard wanting out, good. What's he done other than lead 15 laps at Daytona, which was more than he had ever lead before.

I also think if Teresa wants sell DEI she should give Tony Stewart a good deal on it. Just to stick it to Dale Earnhardt Jr. one more time.

When your daddy can buy you anything you can buy your way into a ride

Gibbs will probably put Joey Lagano in the Home Depot 20 next season. I guess that makes Kyle Busch the new team leader at Gibbs, talk about a young team that will win a lot of races for years to come.

this was wrong. no Zippy as part of the deal that lets Tony out early.

Stewart had been in a Chevy before this year, and either way, drivers aren't as brand loyal as they once were.

I would argue Stewart is. I don't follow all the details like you do, but Stewart never seemed happy in a Toyota and he kept all of his other cars as Chevrolets. And his new commercial is showing off a Corvette.

There's not much reason to be brand loyal in NASCAR anymore. The cars all look the same now with different decals on the front. They still run brand motors but really, where's the bragging rights? I would sure hope these big 4 brands could build engine parts that last 500 maybe 600 miles at the most and produce 750+ hp. races are won and lost by set-ups, drivers, teams and engine builders, not brand names.

I should have been more clear, Stewart wasn't happy with Gibbs going to Toyota, probably at least part of the catalyst that motivated him to look around. My last comment was more toward Newman.

I mostly agree with that.
