As long as Madden is allowed to continue to get excited and use the word "penetration" excessively so as to sound like a porn announcer ban on.

Madden retired a few years ago.

Honestly I think all football games should be with out announcers on TV. I wish they would use those dish things so we could hear what the players say between plays at each other. Very blue collar, but I would love to hear that instead of catch phrases from overly paid nobodies.

Tried that once a long time ago and I don't think it went over very well.

It may have been Walsh's brainchild I dunno. I am pretty sure the concept was NFL and then trickled down to the college ranks.

The fact that people don't know the history of the west coast offense tells me alot about the lack of football knowledge on this board.

it was bill walsh's brainchild when he was coaching san fran. At that time all teams ran either a vertical pass attack or power run. Before the season started he realized that he didn't have a power back and couldn't win with just a vertical passing game.

With Montana as qb he schemed short 5-10 passes to replace the running game. It changed the game of football.

It's still called the west coast offense cause that's were it originated even though it's migrated elsewhere. Kinda like how we call all tissue Kleenex.

It's called the WCO because that's where he was using it at the time that somebody decided they needed to make up a name for it, but it wasn't where it originated. Unless Cincy is a lot farther west than I realized.

"Period" at the end of the sentences has to be banned, because it's sexist. It is derogatory towards women by calling out a physiological phenomenon only happens to women but not men.

Yes, you hear it right. It has to be banned, period.

I've had madden 12 for 3 weeks and "he's a land shark", that needs to be banned. Matter of fact, the play by play guy on that game needs to be banned, he is awful!!!!! I would honestly take Bob Kesling over that dude.

The word "demonstrative"- ban it

It simple means serving to demonstrate. Yet announcers don't know the definition and use it to mean "destructive". Completely different

And don't call them 'quarterbacks", like they are only 25% as important as the "fullback". They're the most important player on the field. I vote "Maximus Prime"!
It's quarterback because he lines up one quarter of the way back. The Halfback lined up half the way back, and the full back lined up the furthest aka "full" way back. Or at least that is how it was originally.

Why is the guy directly behind center the quarterback, then fullback, then halfback? seems a bit out of order....

Fortunately, the word "untracked" seems to be falling back out of favor. It never made sense.

I don't think half back is equivalent to tail back (running back). I think in the old football formation, such as T-formation, the offense lines up like this, 1 quarterback, then 1 or 2 half backs behind and on either side of the QB, then full back at the end. But in the modern formations, there is a tail back or running back lines up behind the full back.

"Schematic". Fat Charlie used that when he went to ND and now everyone is using it. Now, it's a catch phrase and announcers are jumping on the bandwagon to be cool.

I've always personally hated frosh. And anything that comes out of Verne lundquist's mouth. I really hate that fat old troll.
Nothing comes out of Vern's mouth the gravitational pull is akin to a black hole.

"He could go all the way",
"Back, back, back, back" or anything else that comes out of Berman's maw.

The phrase "out with a (insert body part)".

I don't remember ever hearing the phrase before a few years ago, but is it really that hard to say injury, or sprain, or broken, etc to qualify the nature of the injury? Are sportscasters no longer able to sacrifice half a second to help us be more informed?

Trickeration -- NOT A WORD!!
Physicality -- NOT A WORD! But considering so many "analyst" use it (Palmer) over and over, I am guessing people assume it is or roll with it.

Gator bait. Ban it. Doesn't make sense. Why would you call someone a thing that is used to catch you and hunt you down?
