Texas A&M coming to the SEC????

You think the name of the Conference matters that much really? The Big East has a Texas school, The Big 10 has 12 members, The Big 12 has 10 members, and the Pac 12 has a school in Colorado. Im pretty sure the SEC doesnt mind messing up the name to get A&M in. Also, there is ZERO chance UNC or VA join the SEC. UNC isnt going anywhere without Duke, NCState, and Wake. And Virginia isnt going anywhere without VTech. IMO, the best bet for the SEC is to add A&M, Mizzou, Florida State, and Georgia Tech.

We won't be getting Georgia Tech or FSU without UGA and UF throwing a fit

Hopefully we pull the trigger right after our first BCS Championship win :crossfingers:[/QUOTE said:
The sec will be waiting for years then.

Fair enough, I just figured Atlanta market>other viable acc markets. I know for a fact vt can't come. And Clemson is useless IMHO. Then you get into unc and other schools that won't leave purely for bball reasons.

Oddly enough, the SEC pretty much already gets Atlanta from UGA....as well as the fact that every SEC championship seems to headquarter itself there

Dare I suggest USF? Sure they lack tradition and are relatively new to the CFB landscape, but they're growing fast, have an already decent team, and their location speaks for itself.

GT and Clemson are no, UGA and SC wouldn't stand for that (I don't think they bring much more to the table than USF anyways). Miami isn't SEC type. The Carolina schools love their basketball. FSU maybe.

UF would raise absolute hell if FsU were to get invited.....plus I feel they don't want to leave the ACC

I say the SEC should go ahead and add USC for the LA TV market, Depaul for the Chicago market, the San Fransico 49ers for the San Francisco market, and the New York Yankees for the New York market.

Instant global domination.

VA Tech would have to give up about 3 of the 4 patsies they play each year. They are so accustomed to their weak schedule they would never consider the load they would have to pack as a member of the SEC.

I'm well aware. They're a school that likes to win 10 a year and play in BCS games after winning a crappy conference and then brag about it.

It's a pipe dream of mine, only because I'd like to see them become a regular 5-7, 6-6, 7-5 team.

"It's good for all of us to stay together," Byrne said. "We have natural rivalries. We're in the same time zone... All I've thought about is making sure the conference stays together and everyone is treated fairly."

When asked why conference members haven't put anything in writing, Byrne didn't have a response.

A&M fans are calling this bluff.

oh yeah that time zone thing has really hurt other conf

so if we end up with 16 teams at some point, do we go with 4 divisions and a two-weekend conference championship?

Gene has raised more than an eyebrow from what I hear. Pretty strong source inside the BoR and admin office.
