That didn't take long. Decided to get the targeting call out of the way right off the bat.

Ouch.

Just a few seconds into the game and we have a targeting call. I believe the refs made the correct call in this case, same with the Baylor game last night (the targeting call was overturned). In both cases the announcers were wrong. I do feel bad for the player that was ejected since this is his final game and he only got to play for 11 seconds.

Needs to go away like that stupid 'halo' rule a few years ago did

Given the current focus on concussions, I doubt we see the rule eliminated. However, I think the rule needs to be revised or at least called more consistently.

The penalty yardage needs to be overturned if the ejection is overturned. How can a penalty, that's ultimately not a penalty, still be enforced? That makes absolutely no sense and how does the NCAA get away with it?

I thought that they changed that this season?

The 15 yards is dismissed if the foul is overturned, unless, for example, the targeting penalty is called along with an unnecessary roughness call like roughing the passer. Then, even if the targeting is overturned there is still the unnecessary roughness.

Ok my bad. That was perhaps the stupidest "rule" in existence.

Maybe make it 25 yard penalty instead of ejecting players - I doubt any go out of their way to commit the foul as it is
