If there is any evidence taken at the scene..... Even a picture some states prosecute even when the domestic partner declines. I'm not sure about Texas but if there is any evidence preserved or statements on record he is effed.I wouldn't be so quick on that. Some of what I have read says fiancée doesn't want to press charges. He's hired a top flight Austin attorney. I am sure fiancée will lie her ass off to save him. Just my guess.
Or it's her houseBelow is a Google Maps pic of the home where the incident occurred. That pic is either old and Beard rebuilt on the property or he’s one tight ass dude for a millionaire coach. Chain link fence?
A Class C felony conviction will get him court ordered counciling and probation in Travis County. If he can't get the charges reduced or dismissed it could mean his job per his contact.Hate to break it to you, but once the po po show up-what anybody's "wants" flies out the window. It's kinda in the hands of the DA at that point.
Quite frankly there are good and bad aspects to that for the victim. Some may genuinely have exaggerated the situation and are looking for a "soft landing" if you will. Others may quickly realize that their spouses income (and hence theirs) is going to be slashed considerably and start singing a different tune. Financial self immolation is a primal fear for most everyone when it comes right down to it
On the positive side, it prevents the abusers family members from applying pressure to the victim to drop the charges.
Either way, the coach was a moron for allowing himself to be put in this situation from the beginning.
This post is made with the greatest respect for DV victims so please do not take it otherwise.
Also per the police report:Or it's her house
The second-year Longhorns coach has been suspended by UT without pay "until further notice," according to a statement. Associate head coach Rodney Terry will serve as Texas' head coach for Monday night's game against Rice.
According to Beard's affidavit, an officer responded to a 911 call at just after midnight and was met at the door by a woman who identified herself as Beard's fiancée. The woman told the officer that she and Beard had been upset with each other for several days over relationship issues. Asked by the officer if the argument turned physical, the woman, according to police, said yes.
"He just snapped on me and became super violent," she said, according to the affidavit.
The woman said she took Beard's reading glasses from his hand and broke them. Beard, she told police, then slapped her glasses from her face.
Then Beard, "choked me, threw me off the bed, bit me, bruises all over my leg, throwing me around, and going nuts" she said, according to the affidavit.

There is comedy gold in that Surly Horns thread. I offer just a couple examples:
--Rick Barnes coming home?
(the new site header reads, "We a volleyball school now")
--If this was Sark, he’d be fired at 4:19am by the fans. Don’t become the “we’re elite with him, so we shouldn’t fire him” type of crowd. We ain’t SEC yet.
--Well, there isn’t a stripper or aggressive biting monkey involved this time so we got that going for us…
--With the Leach news and this you really have to respect the Voodoo games coming from Lubbock lately.
--4d chess. Get the choking out of the way before March.
