Texas Democrats Walk Out

REVEALED: Texas House Sergeant-at-Arms and Cops are Searching for the Runaway Democrats' at their HOMES to Serve Arrest Warrants

Texas House Sergeant-at-Arms Michael Black is going door to door to round up Democrats in the Lone Star State in an effort to reach quorum so the legislature can vote on election security, according to KXAN.

The House needs two-thirds of its members present to hold a vote, but Democrats have refused to show up, with nearly 60 fleeing to Washington, DC last month in a flashy display of defiance.

Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan signed the civil arrest warrants of 52 Democrats who remained absent from business on Wednesday, and Black delivered their arrest warrants at the Capitol.

The decision was approved after the Texas House voted 80-12 to move forward with the arrests for absent members, which enabled Phelan to issue the warrants. It's the second time that such a vote has been taking during ongoing quorum-bust.

The Texas Supreme Court on Tuesday also overturned a trial court judge's ruling that would have prevented absent Democrats from being arrested.

Texas Supreme Court Rules Fleeing Democrats Can Be Arrested

The Texas Supreme Court ruled on Tuesday that Democrats who left the Capitol to deny the legislature the quorum needed for an elections bill can be arrested.

The court also ruled that lower courts rescind temporary restraining orders that blocked the arrests of Texas House Democrats.

The order is significant because it indicates that it is constitutional in Texas to require members of the legislature to return to the state Capitol, which can include compelling members by arrest, The Texas Tribune reported.

Texas Democrats Return, End 38-Day Holdout Over Voting Bill

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — A standoff in Texas over new voting restrictions that gridlocked the state Capitol for 38 consecutive days ended Thursday when some Democrats who fled to Washington, D.C., dropped their holdout, paving the way for Republicans to resume pushing an elections overhaul.

It abruptly and messily drew to a close one of the few — and lengthiest — quorum breaks in modern Texas history. Instead of a unified and celebratory return by Democrats, some members lashed out at their colleagues over what they criticized as breaking ranks. Many of the proposed changes to Texas voting that Democrats have railed against for months remain in a bill that already passed the state Senate, and Republican Gov. Greg Abbott could now sign the legislation in a matter of weeks, if not sooner.

Well? Are those idiots being lead away in handcuffs to jail that they deserve to be in?
Will the Governor uphold his word of warning that they will be arrested when they're back?

Texas House PASSES voting bill that runaway Democrats fled the state to try and block and heads to the Senate TODAY

The Texas House of Representatives on Thursday passed the voting bill so reviled by Democrats that they fled the state to deny the quorum needed to hold a vote on it.

The six-week political showdown drew to a close when three of the fleeing Democrats, who had warrants out for their arrest, gave up their fight and returned to work. The returning lawmakers said they'd brought the national attention they wanted to the bill and had spurred Congress to take up federal voting legislation.

The bill passed 79-37 mostly along party lines. It will now proceed to a vote in the Senate on Friday, where it's expected to pass, before heading to the desk of Gov. Greg Abbott, a staunch supporter of the measure.

'Election integrity is now law in Texas': Gov. Greg Abbott SIGNS New Voting Bill that Runaway Democrats Fled The State in a bid to block

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signed a voting bill into law on Tuesday, the same measure that state Democrats fled the state in a bid to block.

'It does make it easier than ever before for anybody to go cast a ballot. It does also, however, make sure it is harder than ever for people to cheat at the ballot box,' Abbott said at the signing.
