It's very similar to what happened to our football program when we parted with Fulmer. One bad hire after another. Really is a bit of a crap shoot when you think about it. So many guys we wanted and thought were slam dunks turned out not to be all that great. We get Heupel and everyone thought it was a yawner of a hire and lazy on White's part, but he turned out to be the perfect guy at the right time. Just a great fit. Love that we have consistency in every sport right now.Texas will already be on its third head coach since Rick Barnes was let go. Amazing.
While I do agree that CRB probably won't coach a lot longer, I do believe he has the program in great shape that finding a good coach won't be a problem. We better enjoy Barnes while he’s here. Not going to last much longer.

No, not the guys we hired. I'm talking about some of the names that were considered home runs in some of our coaching searches. Frost was considered a can't miss and folks were clamoring for him. Same for guys like Fuente. Very successful for a period of time and on a lot of lists. Shaka Smart was THE name in hoops, but look at him now. This Vol fan was hoping UT would swallow hard and rehire Kiffin or Freeze. Now I'm glad....ecstatic...that they didn't. Then consider baseball. When we hired Dave Serrano, I knew UT baseball was going to be a player nationally. Guy was hugely successful in the west playing small ball, but put him in the SEC and he flames out. Point being that there are no sure things. We got the right man for UT at the perfect time. Don't think any other coach could have turned this program around as quickly as Heupel did due in no small part to the system he runs and the special roster pieces that were left to him. Heupel wasn't what we wanted but he turned out to be exactly what we needed. Again...crap shoot and luck. You thought Kiff, Dools, the band member, and cornbread were slam dunks?
Each of those hires scared the bejesus out of me to be honest. Of the 4, I was admittedly higher on Pruitt than the other three losers so my judgement obviously needs some work.
Dools was just a panic hire by Hamilton. Considering the circumstances, the program would have been far far better off just getting an interim and letting 2010 tank then get serious again.
Kiff was a major reach at the time considering the other candidates who were sniffing around. Honestly didn't think he would punk out after a year though.
Horn blower was just a joke from beginning to end. I guess at the time though, nobody wanted the job and can't say that I blame them.
Pruitt? I had my concerns after the intro presser but the man had the resume. Didn't really see the whole NCAA issues coming quickly though. Got the wool pulled over my eyes pure and simple. Dude shoulda given 3/4 his salary for 2018 and 2019 to Jennings as without him we were probably a 3 win team (as we were in 2020)

Look at Nebraska, too. A program that fired a coach in Frank Solich because he was winning, just not winning enough. They have yet to restore themselves to relevance in football and it is looking more and more like they may never come back. Nebraska also reminds me of the Minnesota Gophers in many ways. They were a national power in football until the early 1960's and then they went the way of the Dodo, never to seen or heard from again. It's very similar to what happened to our football program when we parted with Fulmer. What more did they need? The contract said he could be fired if he was simply charged with a felony. There are some specific laws in Texas to do with public employees. Despite what was outlined in his contract, the university needed iron clad proof before moving forward. That’s why the investigation played out for longer than expected.
Do you think he's mad enough to bite her again? If biting were a crime when I was a kid, I would be in for life.
It will be interesting how this plays out, though. His attorney says that they will sue because the "investigation" that the school did never talked to Beard or his fiancé, and that the charges are going to be dropped soon. I don't remember the details, but Mike Leach sued Texas Tech when they fired him and the courts ruled that he couldn't sue the university. Either way, Beard is out of a job, probably pretty mad at the fiancé, too.
