Learning disabilties not mentally challenged. The article states thier learning disabilities are "a short attention span or dyslexia". So what do these two learning disabilities have to do with thier athletic ability. Thier are many successful individuals that have dyslexia and short attention spans.

Here is a list of famous people with dyslexia.
Famous People with the Gift of Dyslexia

Given the coach should not have run up the score but life isn't fair and his team wanted to put thier name in the record books. Hell, Georgia Tech beat Cumberland College 222-0.

Start the bashing. :)

1. I would say their biggest disadvantage is that the entire school consists of 20 girls.

2. Are you actually trying to argue that someone with severe ADHD wouldn't have any trouble learning and focusing on basketball?

It's a team full of mental and physically handicapped high school kids...

No it's not. Not even close.

I just watched an interview with these girls...they're perfectly normal, they've just never played basketball before. They were sitting there twirling their hair with their finger during the interview.

I'm surprised that this story has garnered this much publicity.

I do think that a high school coach would/should probably instruct his team to take the foot off the pedal a little bit....if it's 59-0 at halftime, maybe you dish the ball around, use the clock, and limit your shots in the second half...just to try not to exploit another group of kids...no need to humiliate them. They're not getting paid to be out there.

All that said, I kind of feel sorry for the winning coach. He's been depicted as a villain...every sports analyst in the country is giving him hell. He probably should have called off the dogs, but he's not a criminal. It's not THAT big a deal.

The real tragedy is the sense of disappointment they felt because if they had just hit one layup...

Beat me too it. They deserve it for not being able to score 1 point. I wouldn't of backed off after they reached 100. Seriously - how do you not get fouled and make a free throw or something?

Sigh, I just experienced joke fail.

teaching students struggling with "learning differences," such as short attention spans or dyslexia

My post was meant to convey that they would look up at the scoreboard, see the 100 to 0 score and feel that they were one basket away from winning. Oh, well...

Seriously....the opposing team was a school that consists of 20 girls with learning disabilities. The team that won was pressing the full court and shooting 3's until they hit 100. This is disgraceful.
Oh personally i agree. I just don't think it's the winning teams job to slow down. It the losing teams job to stop them.

Haha - I may have picked up on it - but I skimmed your post - and I actually quoted the wrong post. I guess I should have attended that school instead.
