In the absence of a mercy rule, I'm not sure what they wanted the coach to do. Maybe he could have backed off earlier, but when a basketball team gets shutout and only manages to get off 7 shots in an entire game, why does the final score even matter? Would the blow have been softened somehow if the score was 60-0 or even 40-0?

The talk shows were all over it in Lex...I guess because it was a basketball story. Apparently the winning team was pressing and shooting 3s well into the fourth quarter.

Personally I couldn't care less.

The amazing thing to me isn't that the final was 100-0. It's that the score at the end of the 3rd quarter was 88-0.

59-0 at the end of the first half should have been a pretty good indicator that the other team was not going to make a miraculous comeback.

If you score zero in a basketball game you deserve to be beaten as badly as possible.

Correction, if you score zero in a basketball game...you shouldn't have a basketball team. You know what's even more embarrassing than losing 100-0? Having the school that just beat you try to get a forfeit because you got beat so bad. What a disgrace to basketball. And the winning team is supposed to feel bad? Give me a break, what has America become now? That coach had every right not to apologize for what happened.

What would be awesome is if he would start a "Where did my thread go?" thread and accuse the mods of playing favorites.

The most unjustifiable firing in the history of sports...

He wasn't out there clubbing baby seals, was he?
