Word on the street is they are going after a new coach and it's not Herman. I've heard they are prepared to pay 12 to 15 million a year plus the buy out.Would be a glorious day on Volnation.Anyone else hear anything on this.

Bama would match anyway. Unlike certain other schools in the SEC, they understand the concept of spending money to make money.

Saban is going nowhere. He has a shot to surpass Bear Bryant in Alabama lore. That is heady stuff. Some things money just won't buy. How many Yachts does anyone need to waterski behind? Saban stays until he is dead or retires!

"Word on the street".

I have a word on the street... Bull****.

My Dad is a Texas alum and has some info from time to time.I don't think they will get him either. They will make him say no to alot of cash though.

that only shows how out-of-control major-college football is. Of course if a bunch of rich, old fat men want to pony up $15M+, hey....and that's college football...ain't it--ego thang for wealthy southern boosters.

So, Texas is going to offer somewhere between 50% and 88% more than the highest-paid NFL coach? Sure.

Check my stats bud.If they really want him Bama won't stand a chance. They can not compete with Texas money wise.I really don't care if anyone believes it or not.Just passing info along.I agree it makes no sense for NS to go to Texas. But I think they will make him say no for the second time to alot of cash.

Just like the Jimbo Fisher to LSU thread, again the common denominator is their agent Jimmy Sexton. Every major job opening he leaks his boys names out there to secure them and him another pay raise. Saban isn't going anywhere.

You don't have to watch or even get on a message board. It's not old fat men, seems a bit angry to me. It's economics and nobody is forcing anyone to buy. If someone told you that when you spend $1,000 you will get $5,000 in return, it's a no brainer. Quit being mad that some people rise to the top and are worth a lot of money.

Just to clarify, I wasn't throwing shade at you, just don't think it will happen. I'd love to be wrong though.

It is an interesting question. Would he leave for $15M a year? $20M? Are the Texas boosters crazy enough to pay $20M? I'm sure they have that casually laying in the seat cushions...

If they do go full retard and offer $20M what does Bama do? Would/Could they match it? Would they dare hire Lame if Saban left???

Yes, Texas is offering five years at $20 million per year. Plus, a $100 million up-front sign on bonus. The total deal is for $200M.

Same rumor floats around every time they're looking for a new coach. I wouldn't complain if this came to fruition though.

Yup, less than zero percent chance this happens. Texas could offer $20 million and Saban wouldn't take it, the reason being is that their boosters are way too involved with controlling that program.

Saban would only go there if they allowed him to have complete control like he has in Tuscaloosa.

Don't you think if they started tossing cash at Saban like it is monopoly money that they would agree to give him all the control he wants? Not being an ass, just curious.

I know the egos of the kind of men who would throw these sums at a football coach must be enormous, but by offering to more than double Saban's salary (who is already the highest paid CFB coach mind you) aren't you essentially saying, "We will do whatever it takes?"
