News from The Associated Press

The agent for coach Nick Saban told Texas officials in January that Texas was the only school he would consider leaving Alabama for and that his success with the Crimson Tide had put him under "special pressure," The Associated Press has learned.

The agent, Jimmy Sexton, made the comments during a 45-minute call with former Texas Regent Tom Hicks and current Regent Wallace Hall. Hicks detailed the call in a Sept. 24 email that was obtained Tuesday by The Associated Press through an open-records request.

This seems more like a ploy by Saban and his agent to have Alabama further open the checkbook. I hope he stays personally; I want to see Butch beat that ass.

Just heard them talking about possible replacements and they said Jon Gruden. I couldn't help but laugh.

That is awesome! You guys do realize that Gruden's mother-in-law still lives in Austin Texas, right? Also, Gruden and his wife own property in Austin.

In addition to that , I was talking to Santos, the other day, the Texas linebacker, and he said that Gruden was seen having lunch at a local Austin restraunt.

Sounds like a done deal to me!!!!

I sincerely hope no one here starts making fun of Texas for thinking Gruden is an option for their next HC.

Talk about the Volunteer calling the Longhorn orange...

Nick Saban feeling pressure, open to leaving Alabama for Texas - NFL.com

...dis about to get goooooooooood! :)

I could see him leaving for Texas if the NCAA causes Bama to forfeit games and Championships due to the whole DJ Fluker/Agent/Booster investigation. He also has a history of job jumping and denial. Who could really blame him if Texas made him an offer he couldn't turn down(10-12 million a year?).

Bama will be willing to bid with Tx. Imo he will be a rich man either way

Right now this is strictly about a pay raise. If sanctions are coming, he may make a number of moves. I think Mack Brown gets a pass now that he's salvaged the record.

Since they just hired an A.D. with no ties to Mack, the general feeling seems to be that they'll let him finish the season but (and I presume this to be barring say a Big 12 championship AND a BCS game victory) at the end of the season he'll "step down"

I also think that, since the agent is well aware that rumors of all this have been going around since week 2-3, he's mostly just using this as a way of Saban getting a bigger contract/more money from Alabama (and thus, the agent getting more money as well).

Talking heads from Espn now making it a headline. Curious to see it how it plays out. The reality of it is we will be drowning in this coverage from now until something is concluded probably in mid Febuary.

Do you think Texas won't hire its next guy with enough time for him to recruit this class and such?

Why in the world is NFL.com writing an article on this?

Apparently they really want Saban to get a raise from Alabama, because that is exactly how this situation is going to end up.

They're in Austin man. Not careing about consequences is a way of life for those people.

True, but that'd be unusual...unless Mack Brown was allowed to resign after the December/January bowl game, but that would still be pretty late by almost any school's standards.
