APNewsBreak: Texas regent talked to Saban's agent | College Football

texas university tried to hire Nicky Satan after Alabama beat texas in the National Championship Game a few years ago.

You misread. The article says that they approached Nick Saban after this year's BCSNCG.

Key fact:

Brown, who had just finished his 15th season at Texas, said he wanted to keep coaching and the matter was dropped.

If Nick Saban had agreed to become the coach at Texas, do you really think they would have politely asked Mack to retire, and then just moved on when he said no?

Call it what you want, but the interest was there.

Why on earth would he leave bama? Only way he does is if the "right" nfl teams comes knocking...that or by the grace of god they get caught in a huge cheating scandal...tis a non story imho

That's what I'm hearing down here in Alabama from all the Bama fans too but after places he's left before namely LSU and Miami, and how he did it and the fact that he loves challenges, winning and money I wouldn't be so sure that he couldn't get lured to Texas. Plus if one of those oil billionaires had a blank check then I think he would certainly leave Bama.

Satan burned his bridge to the NFL when he was at Miami and how he left Miami.

He goes to Texas and Kirby Smart will take over at bama....don't know why Bama fans are mad unless they don't believe in Smart...but Bama cannot compete with Texas when it comes to money and everything else Texas can offer....if you think they can you're delusional

lot of ifs there...he's already one of if not the highest paid, im sure bama would match if texas came knocking with a blank check

the challenge at bama is now to win a ship every year, if he doesn't win it's a down season...can't get much more of a challenge than that except for doing it in the nfl

They can if the guy in question clearly isn't interested in leaving to go to Texas....

Not really.

NFL owners and front offices are a bit more fickle than that.

they can get a big head in the big leagues, but im sure theres a couple who wouldn't mind having him...

however, i am still waiting on saban to get hired by haslam at cleveland, thus saving us from his tyrannical reign over the sec

>Saban hates interviews
>Gets offer at school that has its own network

welp

Saban has never opened a practice to the media.

ESPN's contract with the University of Texas gives the Longhorn Network the right to record and broadcast any and all practices.

This is why I think Saban either goes to the NFL or stays at Alabama until retirement. People can talk about money all day, but personal preferences as to location/attention/etc. mean much more to a good bit of people.

Texas will offer him a ton of money this offseason. Alabubba will give him a raise, not as much as Texas offers, but he'll stay.

Huge LOL at anyone that thinks Franklin will be considered. If he gets a call, his agent must be the best in the business.

Saban goes to face the challenge of winning a NC at 3 universities which has never been done before.

Texas could make him the first $10 million per year coach. Anyone would at least listen to that.
