Seriously, gruden?! Decent analyst not so great coach. We deserve better than just name recognition... Charlie Strong, Jimbo Fisher or if we did want to go after a NFL coach, Bill Cowher (not likely) but let's reach for the stars. But seriously i can't believe how people were going bananas over gruden. Dude is a joke.

yeah... Who the heck wants a super bowl winning coach who'd bring a boatload of great assistants with him to revive a flatlined UT program.... Not to mention the raft of talent he'd get to come here... Sheesh!

i think he would have been a fine coach, but its not like he is the only possible coach who can win here. the "woah is me, the sky is falling" idiots who think that make my brain hurt

We have 5 star recruits...we just couldn't coach them to win. That's why we need a good coach and not a name.

I wasn't aware that nfl coaches recruited like they do in college. Hmm, interesting.

I won't lose a bit of sleep over it. Never understood people wanting to throw 5-6 million at Gruden when Patterson or Petersen would make more sense(at least to me) at 4-4.5 million.

I wish they would go after Patterson, but it doesn't seem like he gets mentioned a lot.

Dude you are eat up with the dumbazz disease. Agree that he's not the only good coach, but that other stuff you typed is foolishness.

This

Its more important to get a guy that understands the college game and what it takes to succeed there. Rather than throw money at a guy just becuase he has "NFL" on his resume and looks good on TV.

I agree. Gruden and ESPN I dont welcome in Tennessee. Gruden watched this fake thread grow and said nothing. You folks want to be angry then turn it toward Gruden and ESPN. I also rebuke Mr Hart for being slow to see it and saying nothing. Bring us a real coach not a pansy arse espn commentator. Strong or Fedora.

Look. He may not be the greatest coach but WE KNOW he could have attracted MAJOR recruits. That is what we really need right now, some hype. But, as always we get the short end of the stick and will probably wind up with a no name HC again. I'm sick of being so bad at football. What's worse is now our basketball teams offense is as bad as our footballs defense. I have no faith in Tennessee athletics right now.
/end rant
