Just think where we would be if the Trojans didn't "steal" the punk away from us when they did. Punk learned a few things on what not to do while here but if he stayed there is no doubt he would have completely destroyed the program. I know we are at rock bottom now but at least we are still able to field a team. He would have gotten us the death penalty.

Can UT hire him as recruiting coordinator?

How about Tee and Cregg?

I would take death by hanging over slow, prolonged torture.

I get your point but at least we have a slim (very, very slim) chance to upset someone because we have 11 guys on the field. Not only is punk a bad coach (despite what Desmond Howard thinks) he has as much character as Vlad Putin.

Yes and I would opine that Putin is a better coach than Doofus.

So you think Kiffin (punk) is a better coach than Doofus? Punk walked into as talent rich program and Doofus was sent in to clean up after punk. They both failed. Punk was ordered off the team bus to be fired he was so hated by the USC brass. At least Doofus was not a complete dirtbag.

While I was as upset with Doofus as anyone I don't think he is basically the devil himself like punk is.

Disagree with one thing, gasguy98. UT was not "talent rich" by a long shot, or did you miss the 2008 losing season with its great loss against Wyoming at home. Phil's recruiting had already begun tanking.

Agree with the rest. Dools was just highly incompetent. Punk a/k/a Liar Surfer Dude was evil. All of that mess lies at the feet of the BOT, AD, Chancellor, System President, and big boosters.

He was referring to the move to USC. USC had a ton of talent when Kiffy got there.

Whoa! What program have you been watching? We had no talent when Kiffin got here. We had Crompton at QB, who was terrible. Kiffin increased our talent--had a good recruiting year, but totally screwed us by telling Taj Boyd to look elsewhere. That was dumb.

I'm not a real big fan of Kiffin, but lest you doubt his ability to coach, he took a bunch of walk ons, scrubs, and rejects to Bammer and gave them the first real ballgame the Vols have put forward in recent memory. Give the devil his due, he had Saban's number, CBJ will someday, Kiffin did it then.

An article from Tim Dahlberg really sets the scene in the small room at LAX with Lane Kiffin and Haden.

"Give Haden credit for finally recognizing that, even if Kiffin had to be told his fate at 3 in the morning in a small room at Los Angeles International Airport. Haden said Sunday he saw things beginning to go bad early in the season, but withheld judgment until the debacle in Arizona convinced him things were not going to magically get better.

“I fully supported Lane Kiffin 100 percent until last night,” said Haden, who assumed his job from Mike Garrett, the man who hired Kiffin in 2010.

Haden said Kiffin pleaded with him for 45 minutes to keep his job, but to no avail. Fitting justice, Tennessee fans surely believe, for a coach that thought so little of his job there that he paid $800,000 to get out of his contract after only one year to return to USC, where he got his start as tight ends coach under Carroll."

Pleassse, Pretty Pleassse, Please Please Please Please Please......NO, you are fired!!

I was writing about when punk took the USC job. He walked into a much better position than Doofus did.

He failed at USC just like he did with the Raiders and would have with us.

I would take death by hanging over slow, prolonged torture.

All of you negavols are sickening. Most of you seem to love the PUNK at his "Dream Job". I guess it is his "Nightmare Job" now.

That punk doesn't have a decent record anywhere he has coached.

PUNK is the right word to use when talking about him. He had a very good level of talent at Tennessee. Look at the NFL draft.

Crompton was a very talented QB. He was hurt bad by Fulmer hiring Clawson. If Cutcliffe had stayed Crompton would have been an excellent 2 yr starter. For those of you that want to give PUNK the credit for Crompton wise up and look what he did to Matt Barkley and Does he even have a QB at USC.

His great recruiting class was filled with criminals who were not going to stay out of trouble. Had he not left for his "Dream Job", he would be fired after 2 or 3 years here and we would probably be on major probation.

If I had my way I would delete PUNK's season from the UT record books. And outlaw his name ever to be spoken in the great state of Tennessee.

The PUNK was trying to destroy the UT traditions. He ignored the maxims, he had pictures of USC players put up in the UT football complex. It was digusting and why the athletic department allowed is beyond comprehension.

This great season he had here, what a joke:
His claim to fame was 2 losses (Alabama and Florida). By the way the Florida game wasn't that close. A great win over Georgia.

Look at the losses a mediocre UCLA and Auburn at home!!! They weren't even competive against Va. Tech in the Bowl game.

It is interesting to speculate on what would have been his 2nd season at UT. I assume Bray would have started from the begininng I guess. How many of the recruits would have made it through the season?? PUNK was a complete disaster waiting to happen.

And I need to add this too. His dad couldn't coach a college defense for sure. And I'm not sure he was even a good NFL coach other than that one season.

I don't know if this is the correct place for this but you need to here it!!

He also walked into 3/4 of a football team, forcing all their great players to play every down instead of being able to spell them to keep them fresh. Can't beat Oregon without fresh legs.

I understand when Kiffin left why he did and yes I felt punched in the gut. I really hate he got fired example this past Saturday I couldn't go to bed because I had something to look forward to watching him get beat I would laugh everytime the other teams scored just like saturday fun game to watch. So for me now sad he got fired because now I don't care if I watch USC. Weird I know :) But on the other hand I am glad I got to see you reap what you sow.
