So who are you voting for and why?

I'm a lifelong Republican, but I'm disillusioned with the party recently. I'm undecided. I was a huge fan of McCain in 2000. I liked how he stood up to Jerry Falwell calling out the "the agents of intolerance." But the John McCain of 2008 is much different, in my mind. Of course, he's still a maverick, but I'm starting to have questions about his ability to govern if he wins.

To me, his pick of Sarah Palin calls into question his critical thinking skills. Electorally, it seems like a gamble that might pay off, but when it comes to actual governing, I cannot think of a less serious pick than Governor Palin. And that's not meant as a slam on her. That's just the reality of the situation. Of course, she is a very skilled politician, and appears to be a nice person and a great mother. But she has no credibility when it comes to economic issues, foreign policy, legislative experience, or national security. And there is no information out there that suggests otherwise at this point.

I think it's great that she has a record of fighting against corruption in Alaska (and maybe that's why McCain was drawn to her), but I still can't believe McCain thinks she was a responsible choice to be his backup president, backup to a 72-year old man with a history of cancer. Again, this is nothing against Sarah Palin. My beef is with John McCain's judgment. If he really thinks Sarah Palin has the necessary skills to be president of the United States, then I'm starting to wonder about whether his has the necessary skills.

Not sure I understand what you're getting at here. I don't dispute that Bush has been a disaster as far as fiscal policy.

Expansion of government........

No one in the last 40 years has expanded government on the level of W..............

That is why W makes FDR and LBJ proud....

Your answer has made me rethink a few things myself, hahaha. Well, all I can say is her age works against her when people talk about her experience. She got involved probably as soon as she could so there hasn't been a lot of time to fill up a resume. Most people are 20 yrs her seniors. Not that that means they could do a better job. Sometimes bright eyes and a fresh attitude make a big difference. I don't know how she'd do if she were president, but what I do know is we'd all still be living free in a democracy. So she still a better pick than her socialist competition. I do appreciate and rather enjoyed your answer

John McCain chose Sarah Palin because John McCain thinks Sarah Palin is the most qualified person in America for the job of Vice-President. Stop overanalyzing it.
no he didn't. He chose Palin because she gives him the best chance of winning.

I appreciate your position, although I trouble believing we won't be living in a free country anymore if McCain loses. I could be wrong. I read lots of scary things on the Internet.

You HONESTLY believe 1) that her record in Alaska shows no credibility on fiscal policy?!?! and 2) that LEGISLATIVE experience is more important in an EXECUTIVE position than, ya know... EXECUTIVE experience?!?!

Of course not. She does have a record of fiscal responsibility in Alaska. Not sure it's better than say any other Governor or Mayor or small businessman. True, it is EXECUTIVE experience. But by that logic (which is ridiculous), she is more experienced that John McCain too.

There aren't many government surpluses running around out there.

In the end, we all know McCain is just looking to score with her.

See Republicans claim to be against big government until you throw in gay marriage or a woman's uterus.

I could care less about gay marraige........

I understand the choice part of the abortion issue but in the end I believe the child is alive and has the right to live.
