Did anyone stop to think that maybe these individuals value making some money that they need to provide for their families over spending money on a huge meal? I would be interested what the opposite sides viewpoint is.
i would be perfectly fine if there were no planes in the sky on thanksgiving, the day after thanksgiving, oh what the hell. shut down the skies on all federal holidays! you can find me at the nearest pub on columbus day![]()

Well, I was talking more about the walmart cashiers and minimum wage folks who probably need the money even though it meant working during the holidays. In my situation for example I could care less about Thanksgiving and would rather work. Just another day to me where I don't have to deal with some of the idiots in the family.
The boycott Thanksgiving crowd hasn't stopped to think about this for one second. They see it as an opportunity to make themselves look compassionate, or sympathetic, and clever when, in actuality, they couldn't care less what your needs and desires are. Just another example of a group of people thinking they know what's best for others without even knowing their situation.
I've seen quite a few posts on Facebook about it.
Just curious. I'm not on FB. I asked my wife about it. She said she hadn't noticed it.
Are people going on and on about it or simply circulating that graphic then moving on? I really don't see the problem with calling for people to vote with their wallets. It's not like they are calling for some government intervention. Grand scheme of things the people that are circulating it probably wouldn't go shopping on TG regardless. I doubt it will change many minds.
Personally, it has less to do with people working and more to do with how Thanksgiving is essentially being shoved aside to get the capitalist Christmas season rolling earlier and earlier.
You can say that's illogical and not consistent but I'm just human and that's just how I feel.
Read an interesting article about this last night. I didn't realize that Thanksgiving is later than usual thus shortening the shopping season by 6 days which traditionally kicks off on Black Friday. I guess that is a rational reason for retail to want an extra day.
However, my fear is that the precedent has now been set and shopping on Thanksgiving will be the norm going forward.
