That bama team is garbage

Maybe...and hear me out...just maybe, that had something to do with the top two teams in the nation in opponents eFG% playing against each other.
I agree both played tough defense and yes, that affected shot selection. But they missed way too many open floor shots from 5 feet, 10 feet etc. You can't play like that and expect to go deep in the tourney. You need to hit more than dunks and lay ups

No one is going to say they played great, offensively. But when you play elite defense like that, you rarely have to play great, offensively. We beat the #1 team in the country by shooting 36.5%, and we beat them comfortably. Sure, you'd like to see us hit more shots at the rim and more open shots from outside, but when you expend that much energy on defense, you're sacrificing a little bit of offensive firepower. It wasn't a perfect offensive game, but it didn't need to be. If you can beat the #1 team in the country that way, you can beat anyone that way.

I have no doubt it’s very hard to motivate a team to keep up the kind of intensity we saw last night, but if Barnes could keep them anywhere close to that, we’d be a real threat next month.

The only exception I take to your statement is this is much closer to our normal % than it is to what Bama usually shoots.

I think it’s just time to accept that this isn’t an offensive-minded team. They aren’t going to overwhelm competent opponents on a nightly basis with a barrage of points. But they don’t have to, so it’s ok. They just kept the #1 team, and one of the best offenses in the nation from scoring 60 points. Time to accept the fact that this team is going to win rock fights, and it won’t always be pretty.

College basketball is an entirely different animal vs. football. The regular season is so long and usually full of peaks and valleys. It's really just about a resume for the tournament. You want to get a great seed of course, but the draw/matchup is more important than the number. The Vols have basically done the work already for the season. Need to get healthy and be ready for the tournament. I don't care about a deep SEC run, but avenging any of the losses to FL, KY, VU or MO sure would be nice.

Yup…play with that defense and effort and you’re gonna win most nights, you’ll need to hit some shots at some point to make a big run but you look at our % against Bama and we didn’t shoot well.

17-40 for 42.5%2ptFG
6-23 for 26% 3ptFG
16-25 for 64% FT

We shoot our season average percentages and that’s another 12.5-13 points, so 81 points total.

Tiny guards and post are all rails. Got absolutely bull dogged. Fortunately our 3rd string wing was on Brandon Miller so he was able to hit double digits. Just a disgusting institution.

Congrats to them on clawing away every night to grind out a regular season Sec title. They aren’t good and already look exhausted.

Right. And their football program is even more pathetic. I don’t know why we even waste time playing those bums.

Threads like this make me wonder if some of our fans understand the game of basketball.

Worked out well for Texas Tech in 2018-19.

You don't really "wonder," do you? "Some" of our fans have trouble with the differences between basketball and football. "Some" like substances that alter the mind and cause odd posts. But, you shouldn't really wonder, just read and enjoy. Go Vols!

Yeah, I guess you are right. I just can’t believe some people really think Alabama is a bad basketball team.

They don't have a clue. They just hate the Tide in general. I've never understood why you would ever demean a team after a big time win. It's like the "overrated" chant. Nonsense.

This from the guy who said Bama would win by 20. Also said Uros is terrible. Uros had 10 points on 4 of 4 shooting, 4 rebounds and 2 assists in 13 minutes. I’ll take that.
I will stick with my opinion on Uros. He has one decent game out of 30 games 😂😂😂

It's unbelievable. People don't seem to notice that basketball is a long season where everybody loses multiple games and ebbs and flows based on matchups, injuries etc. Basketball is kind of like baseball . . . it's not as conducive to knee jerk, message board hot takes.

You bring that poor shooting performance to the tourney, and expect an early trip back home. Bama lost because they shot even worse than we did. And the game was much closer than saying we beat them comfortably. With 2 minutes left it could have gone either way---we only had a 4 pt lead. We missed wide open uncontested shots time and again throughout the game. I'm glad they won, and love their intensity, and I hope they can use this win to build off of.

Lottery numbers perhaps. Either way, I like it.
