That good enough?

Boys, that's about as close to the death penalty we're ever going to see again.

Hammered school finically, nailed the program in postseason and recruiting. Vacated wins which crushed Joe's win total. And basically put them on house arrest too.

That's "unprecedented".

So basically the NCAA just said that the allowing the rape of multiple children over a 10 year time period is roughly twice as bad as USC buying Reggie Bush's mom a house. The NCAA would have been wise to stay out of this, but if they felt they had the right to act on this case, anything short of the death penalty is laughable.

Molesting kids is a million times worse than paying a player

Not in the eyes of the NCAA, apparently. It's only twice as bad to them. This is why I thought they needed to stay out of this. They don't possess the legal authority to hand down a severe enough punishment for the crimes that were committed.

That's not at all what they're saying. NCAA is not responsible for punishing the criminal side of all this. They are just piling on.

would have liked to sign games canceled for a year but I think it's a strong penalty.

What they did just looks stupid though. Seeing as this is the most horrific thing they have ever handed down penalties for, stopping short of handing out the harshest penalties ever forces this judgement to be qualified with other judgements they have handed down in the past. Today they basically said that allowing the rape of children is worse than a school buying a player's mom a house, but not as quite bad as continuing to pay recruits after the NCAA has already told you to stop.

This is beyond absurd. How does any of this help the victims or punish the guilty?

If you ask some on a message board, some say the victims hate the sight of the school logos and jerseys / it reminds them of what happened

...although I'm not sure if any of the victims have said that either

It doesn't. It just hopes to quite the mob who wants to exact further vengeance in the wake of a horrible crime, even if doing so requires the punishment of the innocent.
