He got the happy feet and overthinking and trying to hard to make a big play instead of a smart play. And Georgia was really good. Ballgame.I think that whole punt sequence got us really rattled and don’t think we could get past it. Then we stop them and hooker forced the throw to Tillman for the pick. Hard for us to recover from those things. Turning points of the game for me.
No idea. I think maybe they just didn’t have enough to overturn it. To be fair we’ve had some plays that went against us as well on reviews. I think small had a review on a goal line run that he was spotted short, he was absolutely in but review wasn’t “conclusive”. I think different crews have different standards of conclusive. Absolutely though it was a safety as well.I can buy that. But the refs didn’t come to that conclusion.
They maintained it was a fumble, so how was that not a safety?

You got me. The options were:Speaking of the safety. How did the refs conclude that wasn’t a safety?
And it was a completely lucky bounce. It landed around the 17 closer to the middle of the field than the sideline. My only question is was Dee back far enough? I haven’t gone back to look. Should he have been 10 yards further back? That punt changed the whole trajectory of that game. They pinned us and should have gotten a safety out of it, but ended up punting and turned right around and scored 7. I think at that point making it 21-3? I can’t remember. I just know that was the sequence that changed the whole game.
I alway thought that as well. Give them 2 points vs punting from End Zone.I honestly wonder if we would have been better giving up the safety. 2 points and punting further down the field, giving us a better chance to stop them would have been better than punting and giving them the great field position that helped them get 7.
Obviously, what if's are pointless now. But this game came down to a few small "what if's?" What if we had connected on our long passes, or what if they hadn't connected on their long passes?
That punt reminded me so much of the punt Trevor Daniel landed a few years ago at the 1 yard line.
I believe the LOS was the Georgia 25. Dee was standing on the UT 20. Sounds about rightAnd it was a completely lucky bounce. I think they couldn't decide if it was a forward pass or not, and because they couldn't determine that they then decided to just say it stands.
The never said what they decided, which is why what I said is the only explanation in my mind. Clearly he was down in the end zone, so they couldn't have possibly said he got out. You're right though, it was an incredibly strange playYou have to choose it was a pass or not. They chose it was not a pass, but a fumble. Our lineman was clearly down with the ball in the end zone. It was bizarre.
If he wasn’t standing deep enough pre punt then that would be 100% on the special teams coach. Wasn’t a rushed punt. Coaches had abundant time to position Dee wherever they thought appropriate..And it was a completely lucky bounce. It landed around the 17 closer to the middle of the field than the sideline.
