That shot to end the half...

Oh and about never developing players how about Scotty who hit the game winning shot? Last year he was awful and he has DEVELPED into our best player along with Chism. IMO things are bright in Knoxville and I will drink none of the Bruce Pearl haterade

This post makes me chuckle. Have you been under a friggin rock dude? When Bruce Pearl came to Tennessee, we were the laughingstock of SEC basketball. Jokes were made that our girls team could beat us. In his short time here he has turned this program from probably not even top 10 in the SEC to possibly top 10 in the nation. In the past two years we have beaten two number one teams, been ranked #1 ourselves, he brought great attention to tennessee basketball, brought in amazing recruiting classes (this years is # 3), and won more than any coach in the SEC in the past 4 years. And he is just getting started. And you sit on your couch complaining about how bad of a coach he is? C'mon man, we all know he is the reason Tennessee even plays on national TV and is as good as we are now. Give him a little credit

I am sure he knows more than you. How many pork rinds u polish off so far today?

I'm probably in a lot better shape than you FYI. I don't snack, and I run and work out four days a week, sometimes five. And this team consistently takes too many threes, and is probably the worst free-throw shooting team in Div. I, which is inexcusable. It was the exact same stupid mistakes (too many bad threes, no free throws, no half-court offense) that got us drilled by Vandy and GA, and if you can't see that you don't know much about basketball.

Furthermore, anyone who claims we were the bottom of the barrel in basketball before Pearl has to be about nineteen years old. We haven't consistently been great, but I seem to remember a couple players who played here about twenty years ago named Grunfeld and King that were pretty decent, and played on pretty decent teams. More recently, we went to the sweet sixteen eleven or twelve years ago. We go to the tournament more consistently now than we used to, but it's hard to get excited when the same thing happens every year once we get there, i.e. get beat by a not-great team that doesn't jack up thirty threes in a game and actually rebounds and has a half-court offense and can shoot free throws.

And anyone who claims Scotty Hopson has been developed needs to go into rehab. He was a McDonald's All-American coming out of high school, the single highest-rated recruit this basketball program has ever signed. Right now I'd say he's easily the most underachieving All-American in the past ten years in Div. I.

well to your first part, congrats on being in great shape, But my gf is probably way hotter than yours.
To your second part, poor free throw shooting is an epidemic in all levels. I don't think I'll blame pearl on that one.

For being such a horrible coach, we have a pretty good record. I bet if we had a better coach we would be undefeated!

I don't have a gf at the moment, but I have dated a few models. So if you're dating a supermodel, you've got me beat. Otherwise, not so much.

many people would disagree with that opinion (including me)

That's not my opinion, it's fact if you believe Bruce Pearl. He's the one I got the info from - he made the statement in a televised interview right after we signed him. So argue with him.

Weren't Bernard and Ernie both rated higher? Could be wrong, but I think they were. Certainly shoud've been.

Wow- you do realize that there are Mcd's AA's that don't ever see the court don't you?

Can you name one? If you can provide a name, I'll believe it. But no, I've never heard of that. I've heard of ones that underachieve, but to not play at all in college, no.

Brian Butch redshirted as a freshman.

Redshirting is not remotely the same thing as "never seeing the floor," which implies the player doesn't play in four years. If redshirting was meant, that's not a statement about the player's development but rather where he is at the beginning of his first season - vast difference.

You can google it yourself. You don't think that some MCD's AA's have gotten in OtC trouble or grade trouble? I don't know any names off the top of my head but I would be willing to bet there are more than a few.

Since I know your "well, on the floor performance" rebuttle is coming. Ill go ahead and say that I guarantee that SH's career PPG avg is NOT the lowest of any McD's AA in the last 10 yrs.

Fill in any major stat category that is relevant to his position.

It's not even remotely close.

SH has shown signs of development this year. He's not where I think he SHOULD be either, but he's moving in the right direction IMO. One and Done now appears laughable, but I believe he will continue to grow. (I hope so bc he def has the size/talent)
