That's how you beat Gonzaga...

not so much. UF was good for 2 years only and LSU was good for 1. Otherwise the league has been down, period.

UK was decent in '06 and '07 - not great, but good enough to reach the second round both years. Vandy had some good teams - they came within a would-be travelling call of the Elite Eight in '07. I think Bama was pretty good in '06 too.

Bruce Pearl put a great team together last year, but things went south after the lost to Vandy. That means he has the ability, but it hasn't happened for him at Tenn. yet. He knows how to recruit, and getting in great talent is critical. He knows his x's and o's; after all he has been a head coach a long time. The TN team just needs fan support right now while they rebuild their confidence. Don't let people who don't care about your team convince you to turn on your coach. They don't want you to suceed long term. They are not trying to offer helpful advice.

Personally I am a Memphis fan who wants to see TN take on Memphis in the National Championship game. Wouldn't that be fun?

At some point Duke and North Carolina became bitter enemies. Maybe it is the proximity of two good teams. Your fellow fans force you to show only hate for your rival. It is all bull**** to me. I like basketball; I like the players and the drama, but it is only a game. So I chose to be loyal to my team first, but I follow the players and coaches of other Tennessee teams as well. Why not? I would rather a TN team win against another state anytime. If you are playing Vandy or another TN team I go neutral.

I even pull for Austin Peay and UT-Martin.

I love Coach Cal and I think he is a great leader and coach. His coming to Memphis was great for Memphis, but he had some tough years in the beginning. Look up his early years and you will see post season play in the NIT. Now to give him credit, if he was going to the NIT he was determined to win it.

All along he had the coaching talent, but it takes time to get the right talent in to coach. Give BP a chance. I have no reason to support the guy since TN is not even my team, but it is obvious to an outside observer that he is a good coach and the critical comments are based on insignificant issues.
