That's racist!

My mom has picked more cotton than anyone you know. I would never apologize to anyone for saying either of those things.

Exactly why do you have that kind of guilt pent up inside of you?

Maybe some people try their best to not say stupid things.

You can't say "cotton picking mind" to a black person. Of course he would need to apologize. It doesn't mean anything if you say it to me, but it means something else when you say it to a black person. It's like saying "your Momma" to a friend who is an orphan. You can't be that tone deaf. That being said, we should all be able to say "that's an honest mistake" and walk away after he apologizes.

**** happens. I said "run boy" to a black football player on the TV with a black friend there. I did not mean anything by it. It's seriously the most harmless thing you can say that can be construed as racist, but I still apologized to him immediately and said I didn't mean it that way. He accepted and said he knew my intent and wouldn't be offended either way, but it was no sweat off my sack to apologize, in case I had offended. This is how adults adult.
Liberals look for a reason to be offended.

I have a black guy who works for me part time when he needs extra money. Once another contractor ask him how he liked working for me. He said “he’s a slave driver”. I looked at him and said “wtf dude”. Thinking it through he said with a smile “ Hebrew slaves?”
Sometimes people say things that don’t mean anything. Everyone is too sensitive these days

There is no guilt, it's just the polite thing to do if something you said can be construed poorly.

Who taught you manners? It's like you're more offended by the notion that you should apologize than the other person is, in this hypothetical.

It’s major guilt if you just up and apologize. Hell, the black people I know would look at me like I was retarded if I apologized for that out of nowhere.

First that lady calling the cops on the brothers for using charcoal at the park, now this. I'm not sure either event is racist, but if not racist, congratulations, you're just a ****ing idiot busybody and you're the reason why democracy sucks.

Outcry after woman calls police on little girl selling water - CBS News

I'm with you.... race may or may not be at the heart of the matter....but both of these women should have minded their own business. They're the type of nosey ass hags that everyone in the neighborhood can't stand.

Seriously dude. You’re new here. Some of us speak harshly to one another but we have history. I pick on LG non stop. But we’ve interacted for years. I trade insults with Dink but in real life he’s had dinner with me and my family. I pick on Luther too but would gladly meet him for dinner as well.
Calm down and get to know people. You’ll have a much better time here.

I digress. And I understand. I have been abrasive.

While slavery is without a doubt a disgusting thing, it seems that everyone assumes all whites owned slaves. There was a very large number of poor whites that litetally had nothing. They were actually hurt by slavery as well.

The 1% ers probably owned slaves. I'm sure that my ancestors couldn't afford one if they wanted it.

Unfortunately, my ancestors were dirt poor. I've got old pictures of my dad's childhood home that amazes me. No front porch at all and a lawn consisting of packed down dirt. They had nothing

So were mine. My parents were born in 1909 and 1914 in poverty stricken areas. My dad, near Appalachia, Virginia in a mining camp. Neither had indoor plumbing in those days.

My mother used to be brought to tears for the shame she felt while wearing homemade clothes to the city high school when they moved from the county into town. They often had to use catalog pages, instead of toilet paper in the outhouse, and cut cardboard to put in their shoes when the soles wore out.

Shortly after high school, the Great Depression hit and made it even worse. They didn't start digging out of a hole until the later 1930's when they ran off and got married.

I agree, although I might have to bring some duct tape for Luther.

Jk Luther, no offense.

Pretty much everything you say can be construed the wrong way depending on how it's spun. That's the problem these days. There are people with nothing better to do than look for things that they can take out of context and make a racial issue out of.

Ok.... serious question... let's say you're going through the drive through for coffee and the guy working the window is black.... he hands you your coffee and you say "thanks brother".... are you being racially insensitive?

I call all sorts of people brother IRL. Along with dude, man, sister and sparky.

Never had anyone complain...yet.

I believe the common parlance is now “bruh”, the only people I hear say brother nowadays are 40+ white dudes.
