That's not "all he was saying"; you're trying too hard. He essentially said "Mexicans coming across the border are criminals and rapists, and some might be good people." He left open the possibility that there are literally zero good people in that entire group. You're describing it as "Mexicans coming across the border are good people, and some might be criminals and rapists."

If that were what he actually said, then yeah, it wouldn't be anywhere near as bad. But the media didn't create this, his words did. They raised my eyebrows when I watched it live, and I didn't have any hatred toward Trump at that point, or really any feelings toward him at all other than that he was a celebrity and I was curious to see how he would explain his Presidential run.

Disagree. I feel like you’re trying too hard to make it like he said all Mexicans are rapists. He just didn’t. Trump has said some dumb things, but this one has been blown up as something it’s not. He was correct, lots of people crossing the border are indeed criminals. And yes, some are good people. That’s all he said.
