The 103rd World Series

Yeah. My most sincere apologies. I just don't like being compared to the NY (AL) Team, for the reasons you mentioned.

All owners are very wealthy, so fans of deadbeat franchises with owners that won't spend their money have no room to complain. If i gladly spend my money to sit at Fenway, have a few beers and enjoy myself, why complain about ticket pricing or comfort when it isn't about your club?

Look down on the New England Baseball fan all you want, and scorn him, but where does the trophy live??

I can't stand the Yankees comparisons either.

What I can say is there's nothing like watching a game at Fenway.....and it makes it all the sweeter when you get to do it in part of a World Series year. I really like this team.....and Lowell getting the MVP makes it even sweeter.

So sweet.

That couldn't be further from the truth. I will give you the $$ argument. I haven't liked the expanding payroll. However, minus Manny, this team doesn't resemble the Yankees from a players standpoint in the least, nor from the owners standpoint in the least. Those teams are in different universes...just parallel universes.
I didn't really mean the teams were the same. It would have been better if I would have said the same orginization in a different city. I agree that from a player standpoint it's not even close to being the same.

Red Socks fans are worse than Yankee fans IMO. At least Yankee fans have been obnoxious A**Holes there entire lives. 90% of Socks fans outside of New England started being douche bags in 2004. If you're going to be a prick at least do it when you suck too.

:eek:k:

If the front office buys series with no regard to their farm system, I won't be happy. But, as long as they develop guys through their farm system (like Lester, Papelbon, Ellsbury, Pedroia, Buccholz, etc.) and don't just become the highest bidder for the "who's hot now" player all the time ... then I'm fine. I don't mind seeing a team go out and spend money to get a player who is a good fit...but if feels very good to see guys like Ellsbury and Pedroia out there doing well after being a part of the farm system. Build a team through your farm...make it special through smart trades and acquisitions.

Yeah...a lot of Bostonians were being pricks long before 2004...must just be the guys outside Boston :)

I live in Knoxville, but have been a Red Sox fan for many years. I remember in 2004 after the Sox won, how many Red Sox caps I saw worn on UT campus. It was amazing.

I don't get the whole "in your face" thing that some people pull .... especially when they just pick a team because they win a series. But, as a fan, you can't let that take away how special a World Series is. In the words echoed at Fenway during the stretch...

SO GOOD...SO GOOD!

Also, it is worth noting (as most of you know I would guess), I haven't lived in Boston for very long (just a few years). But, as a life-long Yankees hater, the Red Sox were always my AL team and the Braves my team (NL or AL). It is nice living here now and getting to watch these guys play. I have to admit that after living here for a few years, the Red Sox have become my favorite team - I just love to watch them play. They're a fun team...and I couldn't be happier for them from Tito on down.
