The 107th United States Open Championship

He seemed rattled in between shots, I thought. The announcers drilled it to death. He seemed like a frail man, only until he addressed the ball, then he made his putts.

Brace yourself for the moronic "Has Tiger lost it?" commentary that is sure to come in the next couple of days.

In the past it was "he's distraught over losing his father". I guess now it'll be "he's distracted because his wife is having a baby".

...when the truth of the matter is that nobody, no matter how good they are, can win them all. As impressive as Jack Nicklaus' record of 18 victories in majors is, he also finished in second place 19 times in majors.

Those greens rattled everyone's nerves. TW looked tentative on too many putts. Cabrera wasn't any better putting but he was sticking his irons.

Tiger lost this tourny on Saturday. He played a hell of a round on Saturday and in a most un-tiger like fashion, just missed too many puts that could have put him in on Sunday with 4 or 5 stroke lead.

that said, AC was very consistent rd. 2-4, and just kept making the same clutch shots...he defintiely played well enough to deserve to win it. though when he bogied 16 and 17 yesterday, i thought that might open the door......

oh well, good stuff over the weekend and Saturday was thoroughly entertaining.

Tiiger should switch immediately back to a Pro V1 ball.

I truely think a Pro V1 could have held the green on his bunker shot at 17.

It was a little hard to believe that the ball didn't check a little more, but I'm not sure there's a ball on the market today that would have helped on those greens.

His only chance would have been a plastic practice ball, and even that would be iffy.

And I really thought he was in a good spot on 17 . . . flat lie in the sand with the ball sitting up. On normal greens, he gets that up and down 80% of the time.

they use very soft sand at the open so that the ball will sit down a bit, hence eliminating the ability to put a lot of spin on the ball. additionally, we just can't tell how well he hit the shot, just a whisker fat and it doesn't spin a bit.

On that particular bunker shot, Tiger said in the presser afterwards that a pebble caught between his club face and the ball, he said he heard a click in the shot, and that that is what took the spin off the ball.

Usually, I would say that is just an excuse. This guy is so keenly aware of everything happening to his ball though, that I believe him...

didn't see the intereview, but that would definitely explain it.

Probably the same click he heard when he thinned a wedge on number 4 and cooked his shot across the green, and ended up with a double bogey.

That's the only time I've heard Miller at a loss for words.
