The class has very few misses in it if at all... when was are last class that has had this many hits already? i wanna say we have 19/23 players so far that will play big minutes in the future..

i also love the 2011 class so far we have gotten most of are needs and we are in line to get some big time prospects.

we are very close to be back just need patience

I wish everyone would realize that the coaches know what theyre doing. My theory is they know how good the 2010 class is, and that they are using the 2011 class to fill the roster out with sure commits instead of relying on 5/4 star guys who are totally hit or miss. I like the 2011 class (which will get better as NSD approaches). I think we have some big gets that will definitely outplay their "star" rankings.

We are 2 years minimum from being able to challenge weekly in the SEC. I would like to know what the % of TR,RS and Soph that will make up the team next year.... 50%???? True Amazing

to me i feel like randolph, posey, kerbyson, smith, dallas, should i get bumped up to 4 star which would give us 7 in total and probaly get 6 or more to finish the class 13 4 stars would be great

I was listening to 104.5 today and everyone on the show had the perception that we are getting dominated as far as recruiting in the SEC, and cited the fact that the only two teams behind us are Kentucky and Vanderbilt..... are we looking through orange shaded glasses or is this class acceptable?

The only one that makes sense on the show is Frank Wychek.... He was favorable overall on the program except for the not having enough players on the field which he thought should have have been corrected after the first time.

The 2011 class is a rebuilding type of class with high priority on OL and DL. It was never gonna be a real sexy class but if it works out it will pay dividends down the road. You can find playmakers every year, but its the interior that wins in the SEC.

I would say that to say we are behind them right now is pointless because signing day is over 4 months away. We have a solid class full of linemen which are the hardest to evaluate to begin with and more often than not don't get the 4 or 5 * rating. I think we have serveral guys that will get a 4th star and by all accounts by people who ACTUALLY KNOW what they are talking about we are in great shape with 5 or 6 more 4* players. So, basically the people saying we are being dominated are looking through the, "I don't know what the h3ll I'm talking about glasses."

They probably base their opinion solely off the recruiting services and couldn't even name half of our commits right now (much less actually know anything about them).

I've lost all respect for Clay Travis.

I think the players that Dooley is recruiting speak to his ability to identify talent more than a lack of ability to land the big prospects. More can be accomplished by spending that extra time in the film room and at games than can be spent chasing prospects.

Simply in terms of landing the prospects that they are after hard I would give this staff a B+. It's not like they are missing on big prospects. They are taking commitments from players that they want -- those who fit the scheme and will be solid producers.

That's what we do not have that we need so desperately right now.

(Sorry, I'm new here and am not entirely sure how to quote posts.)

For now, given the volatile situation this program is in, I think this class is acceptable. We're out to simply fill needs with as many bodies as we can get. The talking heads you see on TV and the recruiting sites are looking through a bunch of star-shaped glasses, and only feel that if there are no four or five star athletes on the board, then there will be no success in the coming year. I would love for Dooley to go out and get guys like Clowney, Crowell, Drew, Wilder, and other top prospects, but the truth of the matter is that we are not in a position to pursue prospects of that caliber, at least until our program stabilizes. Personally, I think that Coach Dooley and his staff are doing a great job with their efforts and a phenomenal job seeking out "diamonds in the rough" and evaluating them and pursuing them. I think that Coach Dooley will not have a barnburner of a class, but will have a solid Top 15 (I'd say around 12th or 13th) class. I don't listen to the talking heads unless they actually know what they're talking about. :)

Good stuff. Welcome to the board.

To be honest, it would be better if many of our current commits are recruited over in the next few years, sure they have the potential to provide SEC depth in the future, but this class doesn't scream National Championship team core, not even close.

Realistically, how is a class that may or may not be in the top half of the SEC going to get us to the top? Let's be logical. It may may us better but does not help us gain on the schools above us.

I think the recruiting classes will get better. There will still be quite a few starters from this class. Good ones.

I think the recruiting classes will get better. However, I wouldn't be surprised if a solid core of our starters in three or four years come from this class.

If they are starters, it is highly unlikely we'll be "at the top of the SEC". Being at the top of the SEC means being at the top of the country. Nothing about this class leads me to believe they will be the core of the best team in the nation.

With the current frosh and assuming we sign a good class next year, they could contend in the SEC. I think we're further than three or four years out from being in the NC picture anyways.

This class will not be the "core" to a National Championship or even a SEC championship, last years class has alot of talented players that could have us competing for the SEC East in 2 years. This class will have 4-5 true playmakers in it but the rest will add much much much needed depth & will play key roles on ST's. People acting like every single one of these players are going to come in & start are crazy. We have the players that will start the next 2-3 years on the team right now, this class is just filling in the holes behind them.

I agree with this. My whole point was saying this class, which hardly has any impact players in it as of late October, is for sure going to lead us to the top of the nation's best football conference, is way off base. Never mind, I see now you're talking about the current freshmen, not the 11 class. Threw me off with this being posted in the recruiting forum.

First, bowl game. Then, the SEC East. Then, SEC Championship. Finally, national championship.

Baby steps...

Some people dont understand that, they think were still the UT of the 90's & that we have Peyton Manning, Joey Kent, Leonard Little, Al Wilson, ect... on the sidelines. They dont understand where the program is truly at & for some of the ones that do they think its all Dooleys fault :eek:lol:.
