The 2023 March Madness “Other Games” Thread

I'm just curious though...does college basketball not have enough analysts to where they have to use a bunch of NBA guys? I'm hearing Avery Johnson on a telecast in addition to others. Does it have to do with college basketball analysts having contracts with ESPN?

Yes, since the NCAAT is jointly produced by CBS and Warner Bros Discovery, who owns TNT, TBS, and TruTV and TNT has the NBA.

At least they don't have AEW announcers calling games.

I doubt there are enough competent college bball analysts out there. Getting some regional, heavily biased analyst from a conference is going to be just as bad as using NBA guys.

I didn’t think it was possible for a R32 game against the Duke Blue Devils to get any bigger than it already was, but…..it did. I hope our guys are fired up and ready to pour it all on the line tomorrow. We have EVERY opportunity now in front of us.

This has Loyola Chicago written all over it. The path may seem easier but it never is.

Duke was the last team I wanted to play in the tournament.

Not feeling great about this one but I’d love to be wrong.

The 15 beating a 2 is getting to be about every year now.

Edit: 3 straight years now.
A 15 seed has beaten a two seed in five out of the last nine tournaments.
Okay, we have a 16 beating a one for the 2nd time ever. Now you have the big upsets for March Madness

Yes but oddly enough it being Duke may be better. I mean it's still Duke.
The good news is we won’t play an away like low seeds sometimes do. Everyone in the arena will be pulling for us except for Duke fans. I was at the Loyola game when we lost and we were playing a road game by the end since all the other teams fans were pulling for Cinderella

Did that just happen again?! 16 over a 1.... I quit watching for a couple of hours to game a little bit and the next I know I hear that Purdue goes down to the shortest team in the tournament. At least they don't have the dubious honor of the first team to lose to a 16 seed... I think that this is at least going to happen at least twice a decade. Talent is so spread out even with mid-majors.

People want their upsets and Cinderella teams. You're getting them this year.
