The 2023 March Madness “Other Games” Thread

That’s the best question. There’s been whispers of several guys moving on, especially with the way Cal and his supporters threw them under the bus with the “we will have the team next year with all these top recruits!”

I'm guessing they will have a transfer or two from the guys who aren't projected in the NBA draft.

Marquette better pick it up. Right now they don’t seem to have anything which will impact Michigan State. Izzo has made something like 15 Sweet 16’s and 8 final 4’s.

Not sure if Kentucky has to push anyone out...

Oscar, Reeves, Toppin, Fredrick, and Wheeler are all seniors that transferred to Kentucky. They all could return with the covid year but I don't think Cal would want any of them outside Oscar to do that.

As for possible transfers I think Daimion Collins might look elsewhere, he's a 2nd year top 15 player and hasn't gotten more than 8 minutes a game so far despite playing in 51 games. Could also see Ugonna Onyenso transfer out, just a freshmen but Cal chose to burn his RS by having him play in 16 games this season top 40 kid when he came out too. With Toppin and Oscar potentially leaving he could see more minutes, but Bradshaw is a top 5 national ranked 7' that's incoming and you'll also have Ware and Collins back as well (if he doesn't transfer out).

Adou Thiero was a 3 star top 200 CG in last year's class, he might be someone that leaves seeing that the incoming class has 4 wing players all top 50 national players in it and his chance to play behind them as well as Wallace & Livingston could be limited.

I don’t want to see the Shaka Smart versus Rick Barnes story line. Except that it will mean TN beat one of the F_U schools on Thursday.

Do we have anyone that can stay in front of Nowell or whatever that ZZ 2.0 name is.
I would have preferred KY to any of the choices, but if Izzo gets to the E8 he's probably the best in the business at finishing. Of course if TN went thru him we wouldn't hear the backed into a F4 comments of the JRs on board. And yes Nowell would be a handful.

Michigan St. started strong, had a big lead--but has just been futzing around since halfway through the first half. I'm not that impressed
by Marquette and yet it is leading the game! Marquette plays solid defense but Michigan St. is floundering.

I'm not impressed by either team.

I'd rather play Mich. State than Marquette or K-State. Both just seem like the type of teams that could get hot and start making every 3 they jack up no matter how low percentage shots they are.

is it just me or does UT and Sparty have similar style of play right now?
Izzo and Barnes are cut from the same cloth. Better be tough, rebound and defend. Michigan State shoots the ball better than us (although not showing it in this game), but can also go on scoring droughts. They defend but not nearly as aggressive or consistent as us this year. I doubt either can beat Kansas State, but in one game, who knows.
