The 2023 March Madness “Other Games” Thread

Would a game against FAU call for more of a big lineup to try to bully them in the post or go small to try to defend the three ball better?
They will force us to play small a lot but not exclusively. We have to be who we are. The fact that JJJ and Phillips can play the 4 helps. We make buckets we will slow them down.

Barnes will almost certainly start 2 bigs and see how we fare, not sure I like the idea of Nkamhoua or Awaka chasing around FAU’s 6’4” 4 man but we’ll see. I think going with our 4 small lineup is likely the move and would still expect whoever our 5 is to really take advantage.

I say make them play our game like we did against Duke.

Imagine uros backing up these guys lmao

ON at the 5 makes sense if he plays like he did yesterday. Going to rotate heavy into the 4, which will be the key. We should have mismatches there that would play in our favor.

The up-tempo speed could be a hiccup from either of these teams for us since we haven't seen it as much. The two styles are a huge contrast. Interestingly, I am thinking FDU could be a greater challenge because they seem to be very good behind the 3 point arc and if they just went off against us, that could be problematic.

Could see us using

Key
Santi
Mashack
JJJ/Phillips
ON

A lot against either of these teams, rotate in Aidoo & Awaka at the 5 some as well. But I wouldn’t play 2 bigs unless ON was at the 4. The other 3 aren’t athletic enough to guard a smaller 4 on the perimeter.

I'm sort of astonished at how skinny their arms are compared to our guys.

Tennessee's strength and conditioning really is world class.

If FAU makes there threes it could be tough. But i think our physical play will take its toll and we beat them by double figures.
