The 2023 March Madness “Other Games” Thread

FAU is a solid team, no doubt. One of those teams that you overlook at your own peril this time of year.

If we get FAU, defense is going to be tested. These guys are fast, shoot well, and spread the ball as good as anyone in the country.
We'd have to control the boards and really control the pace. Can't get into a run and gun game. Biggest concern will be ball handling against their pressure. Limit turnovers and easy buckets.

I do think the longer this game stays close, the more the pressure is going to mount on FAU. Just like Purdue. FAU better put them away early.

Just look at their ball pressure. This is where we really need ZZ. Absent him, we are going to have to dictate the tempo and protect the ball.

We are good enough to beat anybody in the country and also bad enough at times to lose to anyone. I think we are hot right now and the timing is perfect

I can see the speed of both teams but I feel we have been absolutely gifted a spot in the elite 8. FDU while fast is just too small. There’s no reason (outside of our usual shooting slump) we shouldn’t beat either of these teams handily.

Who would y’all rather play FAU or FDU? FDU is in New Jersey and we are going to be playing in New York so it may be a bit of a home court advantage for them. Both these teams are transition oriented teams, so I honestly don’t know what I would prefer.

Just went to the UConn v St Mary's game in Albany. UConn looks terrific. Sanogo is big and was completely under control the whole time. He got his first foul with like 4 minutes left and we didn't see any obvious missed calls in his favor.

People keep asking this question, and I don’t understand it. You want the 16-seed. YOU WANT THE 16-SEED. Lol.

FDU doesn't sell 1500 tickets in New Jersey, no reason to think they sell more than that across the river. The neutrals are going to be their friend.

Vol Nation probably buys more MSG seats than the FDU fans.

I think we matchup with FAU better. FDU with there quick guards makes me have nightmares about them full court pressing us. Either way, if we play like we did against Duke we can beat anyone. Just win baby!

Either/or. Both are going to be similar in their intensity and game plan. We have size galore on FDU, but look what they did against Purdue and their trees. FAU subs to create mismatches and pressures the ball hard.

Can’t overlook either team. But it’s as good of a spot to be in as we’ve had in a long time - IF we handle business.
