The All Things Cycling Thread

Another 38 miles this morning in full summer kit at 7am... on February 18th... this is insane. That puts me at 1,117 miles on the year.

Get a slingshot ...

Reminded me of an odd little bike. Who needs a down tube anyway? Slingshot was always interesting, but those cables were scary. Didn't stop people from swearing they were super fast out of the gate or had incredible traction on their mountain bikes.

I had a Slingshot mtb for a short time. It was fun! It was pretty stiff and accelerated fast, but made for an uncomfortable ride.

There was a guy that worked at the Bike Zoo in Knox that was pretty fast on one of those. Always had the cool Grafton stuff on his bike too. Pretty tricked out for the time.

Weather sucked but I was able to get a ride in on Saturday. 26 miles with 2,400ft elev gain. Just wish it would not have been so wet and somewhat chilly.

Unicycles are pretty capable given the right rider. Looks painful to me but there are some nutters out there who ride downhill and trials on the things.

Nice little ride today, half street / half dirt. Singletrack on a SS DJ bike is amazingly fun. Not the fastest bike for the environment for sure but maybe the most fun. I was on single speed because my daughter wasn't feeling her usual oats today and made us switch bikes :D

It was great outside of it being somewhat chilly. It was 30 miles for me, but that involved some hill repeats.

Today would be a great day if I didn't have to work and go to class tonight. 50° with a slight wind. Commuting in rolled up jeans and a t-shirt today (would be shorts but have manufacturing class tonight).

That moment you get out of class and the weather's turned from 70° yesterday to 35°, windy AF, and freezing rain... Not a comfortable 4.5 home from class.

Supposed to head down to ride the Katy Trail in Missouri on Saturday... High in the 40's with headwind and rain... Maybe I'll find something else to do.

I think our warm weather is about to return. I tried to ride Monday after work since it was in the low 80s but a random storm ended up coming in. Can't wait for there to be some daylight so that I can ride after work, as that is the only time I can ride outside of the weekends. (Which is full of rain this weekend)

Nice trail ride yesterday with my daughter. She is jumping everything on her new bike and actually willing to listen a bit now. Nice progression for her. As for me, I am just sore :D

We hit the new Baker Creek trails and jumped over to part of the South Loop this afternoon. There are some really nice downhill runs -- three difficulties to suit your taste. From the looks of some of the participants at the bottom, the double black diamond trail is brutal and suggests at least a decent degree of body armor.

The downhill runs are much steeper and the jumps larger than any GoPro footage on youtube shows. My daughter loves the place, more fun than any BMX track in TN for sure.
