Ouch. Hope it isn't broken, be safe. That is one nice doctor perk though, x-rays on demand. Nice pic too!

Barry-Roubaix in Michigan this weekend. Have been registered since 12/1 but put in 0 minutes training. It's gonna hurt so good.

Barry-Roubaix went well. Can't speak highly enough about this event. Glad I had the opportunity to participate.

Sporting the tri star at today's race. Didn't do well, but there was a fair bit of steep up. It's still my favorite place to ride.

New daily driver in the works. Wheels should be built over the course of this week and small parts showing up at the shop tomorrow. She's going to get ridden all over the area this summer and eventually to the Chicago suburbs and maybe the length of the Katy Trail in MO.

I rode 102 miles in 100°+ heat on a beach cruiser yesterday in Des Moines, IA. It was dumb. I finished after 12 hours give or take from the start and a storm was rolling in that would eventually destroy Des Moines. Wild day.

Riding, but more wrenching than riding of late. Ready for cooler fall temps for sure and contemplating a return to road bikes. Hopefully racing BMX this Spring if we can get the track in.

Summer is my favorite season.

Sadly, my (rheumatoid) arthritis was acting up most of the year. I did some riding/commuting, but mileage is down a lot from where I was a few years ago.

I just started a different drug and so far it's really helping. I wish I had switched in the spring. Oh well.

I was reading an article about proposed DC traffic tickets and came across this:

Increases 18 existing fines or imposes 11 new infractions for dangerous behavior by pedestrians and cyclists, as well as upon motorists.

I wonder what they ticket for? I don't even know for sure if police ticket cyclists here. I assume they must. I've never gotten one--only a warning for rolling through a stop sign.

Knoxville just implemented and is enforcing a "3 feet" rule for cars passing a cyclist. The bike cops have some kind of sensor on their bar ends that records the passing distance. I think the first violation is just a warning for now.

Where do they ride on the roads? Downtown? On the west side, I generally have only seen them on the greenways.

Can anyone tell me how the Easy trails at I.C. King compare to Loyston? I'm trying to motivate my wife and kids to get on mountain bikes and need a very manageable intro...

Who was developing the laser alignment tool via 3D printing? Interested in one for the shop if you need more testing feedback.

Got a question for any trail riding/cycling enthusiasts. My son is asking for a truing stand for his Cannondale for Christmas. Anyone have any recommendations on a brand/type? Most of the ones I have looked at are pretty expensive $150 - 300. Want to get something that is decent but don't want to spend a ton on it.

Ouch.

Lachlan Morton breaks Everesting record

Lachlan Morton has set a new Everesting record in an official time of 7 hours, 32 minutes, and 54 seconds.

Morton took the record from pro mountain biker Keegan Swenson, who took it from Phil Gaimon with a time of seven hours, 40 minutes, and five seconds.

Morton averaged 254 watts over the effort. His attempt took place on the backside of Rist Canyon, outside Fort Collins, Colorado. Morton completed 42 laps of the climb to reach the height of Mount Everest, 8,848m (29,029 feet). Each climb up took him roughly nine minutes.

Everesting seems to be the "in" thing right now. A guy who goes to my church did it last weekend @ Bluff Mountain.

Crazy.

Last weekend, cycled from the Caboose in Suwanee to Lanier Islands and back – 28 miles, 4 stops, 2 hours, 12.9 mph average. Wicked series of hills on the return leg.

The hills aren't the same both ways?
No. On the route back, there's a long low-grade climb, right turn to a brief downhill, another climb to a small flat, followed by a steep climb over several hundred yards that lets up into another long low-grade climb. Going in the opposite direction is a bunch of downhill with plenty of momentum for the climb to the left hand turn.
