The All Things Cycling Thread

Same here. Top speed on flat is 30. I don't ride with groups so I don't get any faster unless down a mountain

There are hills here I'm sure some people hit 40 on, but I seem to top out at the mid-30s.

Generalization, but in organized rides I often pass other riders going uphill, only to have them pass me going down the other side.

You will kick yourself for not making the change sooner. Just be prepared to wreck a little more the first week or two.

Not very aero.

Meh... I'm prepared to wreck more often than I actually do anymore. Going on two weeks without crashing.

Funny thing is you probably won't wreck doing something hard. In those situations your instincts take over. Usually it's when youre in the parking lot. you just forget and fall over

Just got back from a hard ride and first with the clipless. Didn't crash, but did get caught unclipping and fell over going uphill. The advantages definitely outweigh the disadvantages.

The second paragraph describes every organized ride/event I have participated in.

I might have been half asleep/dreaming, but I thought I saw a guy in the Olympic RR yesterday stuffing water bottles in the back of his jersey. Not in his jersey pockets, but inside his jersey.

???

The put then in the pockets as well. They were loading up to distribute to the team.

Oh. Saw this guy with like two or three bottles stuffed in his jersey and thought: "wut"

I was a bit surprised how narrow the roads seemed for a high-profile race.

Possibly loading this weekend up with racing in Chicago. Velodrome certification Friday, a criterium on Saturday, then, for sure, a XC race on Sunday. Depends on transportation there, though. Oh, and Lollapalooza sprinkled in each night after.

I went out for 25 miles today, specifically aiming to KOM a segment on Strava... but Strava didn't register the effing segment. I did KOM 2 others in the process, though.

I thought the same thing about the roads. Also, would have been real nice to see Phinney (American) get on the podium, but a strong race nonetheless.

What's your favorite bar tape? I'm using Shimano's P.R.O. tape right now and I love it. I've used LizardSkins 2.5mm DSP and various cork tapes in the past.

The fi'zi:k has held up pretty well. Doesn't have the cushioning of my prior tape, but I got used to it quickly. It's probably lost a bit of the grippiness in the last year+, but other than that it still looks good.
