The All Things Cycling Thread

I'm nowhere near where I was earlier this year, and I wasn't even close to where I was at that point last year. This fall I'll put serious mileage in, though. Race in Indiana on Sunday will not be easy.

36 miles in so far. Stopped at a McDonald's for some much needed food. Started out with some light rain, now nothing but sun. Was hoping for a wet ride. It's hot and I'm about to turn into the wind. Legs feel great, though. I changed my bars around a bit and now my headset is loose. I made the mistake of not torque specing the headset bolt so now I'm afraid I may sheer the carbon steerer tube.

I hate riding my road bike in the rain.

Yes. Also, it rained on Saturday and when I went riding afterward it was so humid it was miserable. Sweat in my eyes and no way to dry off because my clothes were drenched with sweat.

Would gladly have traded for a dry, 95F ride.

Caught and passed a road biker while he was tucked in aero and spinning going down hill. I was on my 26" mountain bike 40-ish mph.

The local hipster club holds a ride every Wednesday night to visit a different Village Inn for free pie. Mostly single speeds and kinky old bikes out there. It's 10 miles at 10mph, super social ride. Anyways, one of the guys on a newer Trek launched at the top of the hill to be the first one down. I was screwing around in the grass and on the sidewalk doing mountain bike things when he did it. I saw him and took off, also. One of my friends saw me and started cheering me on, knowing full well I could catch him. Haha. I love going fast downhill. Caught him with 100' or so to the bottom. Had I been on my road bike I would have come close to 50mph there.
