The Arkansas Postgame Report

Think he is finally earning that scholarship? I do. Big fan of his defense as well.

Let's not get carried away. His 1 on 1 defense still sucks, but if you notice, they are not allowing him to switch on a mismatch like earlier this season. Coaches are doing their job.

Only bit I disagree with, but only because there was SOME, though not nearly enough, dribble penetration. Certainly still don't know how to attack a zone.

We are attacking more now than in the past. Now that the defense is in place he is working on the offense and it shows. GBO

Really is good to see Jordan McRae discover an ability to take the ball to the basket. That is an element that has really been missing from his game. Tonight, he really utilized it, and it delivered immediate results.

McBee is playing like we all hoped he could when he arrived. His defense is even tolerable lately. If he shoots consistently like he has recently, we can give up his defense for offense exchange. He knows his role and stays within it. If Tatum, who played well tonight outside of his 3-point %, could learn to do the same, he wouldn't be such a net-negative on the floor.

Golden was ultra-efficient tonight, even on a bum wheel for much of the second half.

Stokes and Maymon were efficient as well despite limited touches for both because of Arky's zone defense.

Its a good thing Stokes had limited touches. I don't think the rim or backboard could have stood up to any more dunks like the ones at the end of the game.:)

1. That's how you put an opponent away. They tried to come back, and Tennessee put on more steam to seal the game. Solid win tonight.

2. That first half was the best performance of the year for Tennessee. That was incredible basketball from them.

3. I love the decision to run with Arkansas in the first half. Totally surprised Arkansas and the team came out with incredible intensity and energy. Great call by Coach Martin.

4. This team does have a major issue. Way too much passing around the perimeter against a zone. You have to attack it. There was no dribble penetration, and they didn't go to the high post.

5. Good game by Jarnell. Nice to see him go 4-6 from the line. They are looking better.

6. I hope that nothing Kenny Hall did was major, and that this was a message sender moreso than anything else. We need Kenny, and Kenny needs to understand he has a unique opportunity and cannot afford to screw it up. You only get so many chances.

7. Jordan McRae has played much better, but we still need him to be aggressive in the second half. He had a couple attacks, but he needs to keep up the intensity.

8. Very nice win. Great way to start the game and keep it up. The team is starting to hit stride, and the players have completely bought in to what Coach Martin is selling. Saturday is a major, major game for the team's NCAA chances.

Alabama is NOT comfortable with us paying them a visit Saturday. Especially given a loss on their home court to Florida.

So you agree, he is worth his scholarship? Things will keep getting better when CCM can keep bringing in HIS recruits. McBee was garbage last year. Right now he is table scraps from a very good steak dinner. I can only imagine what Martin can achieve with a great recruiting class.

I wish he would develop an attitude.

What kind of attitude? I personally really love it. Most energetic player on the court and always the first one off the bench to greet his teammates.

I was thinking during the game about what this team will look like next year with Stokes, Mcrae and whomever gets brought in. Gonna be a good year next year.

"Grant said he hasn’t made a decision on the status of Green and Mitchell for Saturday’s game with Tennessee."
...to quote an AP article.

Anyone have any doubt when those suspensions are going to be lifted?

Interesting stat:
We are 5-0 in games in which the starting lineup was changed.

Effective adjustments are always a good thing.

Thanks, my brother and I were wondering about that too. It'll be good to see him out there sharing Yemi's minutes against teams without a lot of size like Arkansas (since we have to replace Hall).

11-0 with skylar in double figures :whistling:

my number is bigger than yours :)

Yeah, I posted that one in another thread. It's really telling what a perimeter game can do for a team.

Similarly, four of those wins have come post starter rotation with Skylar in the starting lineup.

i was bashed for saying he should be a 40-45% 3 pt shooter and that thatd be a big weapon for us. well in those 11 games that we have won in which he has scored in double digits guess what % he is shooting?

49%...someone tell me again i cant ask him to shoot 40-45% cosistently.

with that said, yes him shooting like that makes everything so much easier for everyone, not just our post guys.

I didn't get to see any of the game tonight. Was at Gnashvegas and saw we were up 21-6 at one point and 20 points in the 1st half. Couldn't believe it. I DVR'd it so it'll be nice to watch.

Sounds like this team just played two of its better games in a row and without Hall. If this team can play like this at Bama, I like our chances. Keep taking them one at a time.
