The Association Football Thread

2 goals, PK on frame with great save > no goals against 10 men, and missing the target.

Not arguable.

Edit: leading scorer of the league on the league leading team > than not.

Keeping tell yourself he didn't "choke" man. You will believe it eventually.

Glad to see you realize you can't argue those facts.

I'll continue to stand by all of these.

Enjoyed last night. Ended up watching the second half of OT and then the penalties. Roller coaster ride but Scweini is the man. Real's fitness was horrible.

RSL earns a draw on the road. Super weak handball in the box led to a PK. Sucks. We can't catch a lucky break. Good thing we are really talented.

Why would he leave? Is there really anything better for him out there? Chelsea? Maybe?

I don't see why he wouldn't want to be the SAF of Barcelona, but he very much believes in cycles with coaches. And Barcelona has already had these cycles. I think Pep believes the cycle has run its course and he wants to move on.

At least you got a point. I've noticed Brek Shea gets some favorable treatment, maybe because he's on the US national team... I dunno. Good cover story on ESPN about Kris Boyd.

Mls is hard to watch for me. A guy I work with played in Germany for a summer and got offered an mls contract but the money was so bad he just quit.

Would peps style fit at Chelsea? I mean we are looking at a change of the guard at Chelsea anyway. Drogba will be gone within a season and our two premier strikers behind him are spanish, assuming Torres isn't sold. Could we see David Villa make the jump to premier league football and land at Chelsea in this scenario??

I think most soccer fans that give the MLS an honest chance (maybe attend a game live) will become fans. It's weird. I love the MLS, and can no longer watch regular season baseball. Never would've thought that'd be the case with me.

If Pep does leave, I will be very very interested in how successful he is without Messi. He is normally the key to unlock defenses that sit very deep and try to hit on the counter.

He won't find a more talented team to work with. No one is close except for Real.

Barca had a bad year by their standards but it's not like they have to do a major overhaul.
