Uggla and BJ have to hit now. There's no way around it.
Atlanta sports radio is on collective suicide watch.
I saw a tweet from Heyward's agent that said he'd definitely miss the remainder of the regular season, but made no mention about playoff availability which is up in the air at the moment. I figure he'll be back in the post-season at some point. Definitely need B.J. and Uggla to pick it up now, but is sure is nice having this 15 game cushion in times like this. Still up 3 games for best record, but that's going to be a bit harder to hang on to.
Also, wouldn't be too worried about holding onto the best record. The Dodgers have been so hot, they are bound to hit some sort of slump and the cardinals, pirates, and reds have a lot of games coming up with each other leading to a decent amount of losses
Only problem with that is the fact that, while not as insanely hot as the Dodgers, we too were probably in for a bit of a regression at some point from our most recent pace. Losing Heyward could potentially spark that regression and increase it's severity. Luckily the schedule is still pretty favorable overall but a lot of this better play was personally sparked by Heyward and his new found position in the lineup.
I may be guilty of being slightly chicken little-ish here but I feel like this will have a bit of a troubling ripple effect on the lineup as a whole.
I share vol2013 concerns regarding heyward x10.
Our WS hopes took a fastball to the grill and ended yesterday. I'll still be there in October choppin but to expect anything from heyward, at this point, is a huge stretch imo
