idk why but this is mesmerizing

Is it OK for the Maholm haters to come back now?

Maholm is what is he is. He's a bottom of the rotation-level starter who generally eats innings and puts up about a league-average ERA. Of course he's not actually "good"; that's why he only makes $6 million a year. But he's still a far better option for the bottom of the rotation than what a lot of teams are stuck with; how many teams have five starters better than him? He hasn't had a great year for him this year, since he's been hurt for the first time in awhile, but I don't get the hate for him. I'm glad the Braves still have him rather than having to throw Sean Gilmartin into the fire.

I mean, if you guys all expect to have five above-average starters on a team with a team with a payroll in the bottom half of MLB, then of course Maholm SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS.

Maholm would not be included in the rotation of any if the top 3 teams in the NL Central. That AAA league. Jus sayin'

Had any of them

A) Had major questions about multiple members of their projected rotations going into 2013,
B) Had a chance to pick up the 2013 option of a league average innings eater for $6 million, and then
C) Had two members of said rotation go down in August,

then yes, he would probably be in the rotation of one of the three teams in the NL Central. That's the situation the Braves are in right now. Maholm was insurance.

The Cardinals have lost a bunch of pitchers due to injury.

The Pirates have been without Rodriguez for almost the whole year.

The Reds have gotten like 5 starts from Cueto.

Yep . . . If Beachy and Hudson were healthy I'd venture to guess that Maholm would still be on the DL or spot starting.
