"Talent" is never beside the point. Talent is the point.
Again, how many innings has Aroyds Vizcaino pitched for the Chicago Cubs in his career?
I don't think he's any good. He cannot hit. He's never been able to hit. Thanks for playing.
Jordan Schafer can't hit either, and yet you have argued endlessly with me about his "skill set." Francoeur had all the other tools too. If you'd been in this thread from 2006-2008 we'd have been having the same conversation about him too.
And since we "got something for him," wanna tell me what we got?
From where I'm sittin we sunk roughly 10-12M into nothing. At the expense of a very talented arm.
I've had this conversation, not worth my time.
Paul Maholm sucks
Let's see, 187 innings in 31 starts of league average pitching that helped ensure we got into the playoffs last year?
Maholm was about $1.5M last year when we got him, so it was $8M (along with this year's salary), not even close to $12M. And Atlanta also got a .300 guy against lefties in that trade.
Frank Wren made the right move in trading for him and for keeping him. Maholm hasn't pitched well this year, but you couldn't guarantee me that Minor would have a solid season, Teheran would pitch great, Brandon Beachy would return 100% in August, and that Alex Wood would be ready. I don't blame Wren at all.
haha. You can't tell a difference in their swings. That's your problem, not mine. You and ga stick to results.
I never thought francoeur was worth a damn. We wouldn't have had any conversation.
Again, thanks. And again, not worth my time
Who cares about what their swings look like from the center field camera? I've seen hundreds of guys with smooth, Ted Williams-like swings who can't do much of anything. I've seen lots of guys with awful herky-jerky swings who can kill the ball. Whatever you think about their swings, Jeff Francouer's career OPS is still almost 100 points higher than Jordan Schafer's.
