If Maholm weren't on the roster, some nimrod with zero major league success would be coming up and making six or seven starts that would help determine playoff seeding, which with a team with such a pronounced home/road split seems significant. The point is the same regardless of whichever minor leaguer is theoretically "next."

Our schedule is awfully easy,and I'm sure that Nimrod is probably better than Paul Maholm. I'm sure that Nimrod probably could be the Chicago White Sox with a big lead. We will see how many teams are lined up to sign him this offseason. My guess is he won't be signed for awhile...

How bout I just roll down to leron blacks first period class and drop him a Jesse scroggins love letter. Swap Jesse for leron, kiffin for Martin, quarterback for power forward.

Not to mention that the way this team has played at home, whether they'd have the home field vs the Dodgers in the NLCS might end up being significant. This isn't going to be five weeks of just playing out the string.
