Gilmartin isn't next in line FTR
Who cares about what their swings look like from the center field camera? I've seen hundreds of guys with smooth, Ted Williams-like swings who can't do much of anything. I've seen lots of guys with awful herky-jerky swings who can kill the ball. Whatever you think about their swings, Jeff Francouer's career OPS is still almost 100 points higher than Jordan Schafer's.
Well I'm hoping we can play decently enough against a god awful schedule. I assume the dodgers (the best team in baseball) play mostly against the rest of their ****ty division. I also assume the cards-pirates-reds have a ton of games left with which to beat up each other.
Probable, yes. Enough of a slam dunk that I'd be happy to bring Gilmartin up and start him every five days, no.
Not to mention that the way this team has played at home, whether they'd have the home field vs the Dodgers in the NLCS might end up being significant. This isn't going to be five weeks of just playing out the string.
