I never said I believed it. It is curious though whether you realize it or not. He has not cooperated with the investigation once at this point. That's odd. Also, if my name were linked to this, I would be singing from the mountain top my innocence and cooperating with the authorities. I don't think he is getting charged with anything. I do 100% believe he has something to hide though.

Not if you decided to hire the highest price lawyer in town, because they would probably be advising you to do the exact opposite.

I would indeed think it's odd, had I seen a report from a legitimate newsgathering organization that specified how Franklin had failed to cooperate. I just don't think there's anything there yet. So far this has played out like a standard "story" in the internet era -- crappy fourth-tier site reports/makes up a rumor; third-tier sites report that the other site said it; message boards and radio guys start riffing on it. Most of the time it turns out to be BS.

I think it's silly to parse his statement about it as anything other than an unequivocal denial. I wouldn't expect him to respond in any more detail than that to a story by a crummy aggregation source like Buzzfeed.

And I wouldn't be shocked at all if this rumor were true. But even if it is, it's the kind of thing that would be almost impossible to prove to the extent that Franklin would get fired or prosecuted or anything. The only thing this story might potentially do, if it gets enough legs, is taint him to the point that big schools might not consider him this offseason. Thus the lawyering up.

I am just passing along what was said on the radio, Matlock. I honestly don't give a damn either way. All I said is I think the whole thing is odd it regards to how he has handled this situation. The football program has not aided in the investigation once. Not from the beginning, not until this point. That's well know, compadre. I just wonder why they would not cooperate with such heinous behavior that occured by members of their student organization. Seems rather odd, no?

I don't mean to sound like I'm arguing with you about it; I'm just skeptical that there's anything there but gossip at this point. Was the investigation handled by the Nashville cops? Back when I was alive, the rivalry/distrust/contempt between Vandy's cops and the Nashville police was sort of legendary. If the Nashville police are handling the case, then it does not surprise me at all that Vanderbilt University and its employees did the minimum they were required to do.

You keep saying that Franklin and/or Vandy are not cooperating. How, specifically? I haven't been inundated with the case down here like you have, but I haven't heard about any obstruction of justice type stuff.
