I don't mean to sound like I'm arguing with you about it; I'm just skeptical that there's anything there but gossip at this point. Was the investigation handled by the Nashville cops? Back when I was alive, the rivalry/distrust/contempt between Vandy's cops and the Nashville police was sort of legendary. If the Nashville police are handling the case, then it does not surprise me at all that Vanderbilt University and its employees did the minimum they were required to do.
You keep saying that Franklin and/or Vandy are not cooperating. How, specifically? I haven't been inundated with the case down here like you have, but I haven't heard about any obstruction of justice type stuff.
Well they have no warrants or any of the like, so they are not required to cooperate with the investigation in the first place. That said, all reports mainly from the Tennessean over the last few weeks have stated that NPD, Vandy PD, and campus officials have all been more than willing to oblige and have been working hand in hand. The only organization on campus that has not talked with the police is the football program aka Jimmy Frank.
Yes, you are correct that the Newsfeed source is flaky at best, but the young chap who wrote the story has connections. He was hired by The Tennessean, and let go due to mass staff cuts.
I agree with everything you've said by the way. I personally just think that it is fishy as hell that they will not speak to the police, even well before they "lawyered" up. It is not a good look.
Maybe I'm more cynical than you, but I wouldn't expect a college football program to do anything more than they were strictly legally compelled to do. Tennessee has certainly circled the wagon a few times. This is mostly what teams try to do as much as possible. I agree that it's pretty despicable, but it's that way almost everywhere. Vandy is finally behavhing like a big-time football school.
Lol, yeah you are defintely more cynical than me. Luckily for you, you don't have to hear it as much as I do. If I were smart I wouldn't get caught up in the talking sports heads of Nashville.
The whole story disgusts me to no end. The atrocious acts evoke emotions that the typical collegiate arrest can not touch. Therefore, I would hope that the leaders of the young men (who will stand trial) would exhaust all their resources in the hopes of prevailing justice.
Unless I am missing something this has nothing to do with Dooley and could have just as easily happened under any coach at any program in the country
Any reason I can dog Dooley, whether illogical or not, I'm gonna take full advantage of it![]()
