Something happened in between innings with Johnson yelling at Fernandez and Fernandez went back to the dugout throwing a strange hissy fit. Then, Fernandez came to bat talking to McCann and drilled one and stood there and watched it. When he got to the plate, McCann let him know he was acting like a tool and Fernandez got in his face before retreating to the dugout immediately once the scrum started.

Yeah, pretty gutless how quickly he disappeared.

Would be very interested to know how it started between Johnson and Fernandez. Too bad we'll never know.

Scrum as in multiple people getting into it? Or just them?

I don't know it y'all noticed but Fernandez spit when he hit third. LOL. If CJ observed that and let him walk, that's gutless.

What's he going to do, slug him in the back of the head while he's rounding the bases and get suspended for a week?

The whole thing was just the usual pointless slap and tickle. Both Johnson and Fernandez did everything they could to be chesty chesty chesty without actually being in any danger of actually having to throw a punch. Like 95 percent of (non-hockey) sports fights.

What's more ridiculous: baseball fights or baseball arguments?

Looks like CJ may have started it.. As far as we can tell

Looks pretty obvious that he started it by flapping his mouth at a pitcher who was shutting down his team. Silly. Circling behind to hell at Fernandez from behind McCann and the umpire was ridiculous. I kind of hope the Marlins throw at him in the top of the inning; he deserves it.

Fights are more ridiculous, but arguments are more pointless. At least an actual punch or two gets thrown once every couple of years or so.

I miss the old days when Nolan Ryan wailed on Robin Ventura and Otis Nixon led with his spikes when he charged the mound.

No. Not from behind. If you are gonna start chit and run your damn mouth at least be about it, otherwise don't say a word. If he is going to act like a tough guy waltz down there and bust his chops and get suspended for a week. That's what. Otherwise don't say anything in the first place. And definitely don't circle around and talk crap behind the ump and catcher. That's weak. And embarrassing. And not to mention spineless.
